Ladies...Any RUDE/CATTY/SNIDE/NASTY Remarks about your Birkins or ANY Hermès Purchase

this is funny, i remember posting one of my come backs in another thread. Although the lady in my situation wasn't necessarily rude or made any negative remarks, she was eye balling me up and down commenting and asking me about my jewelry and other things, at first it seemed innocent and I didn't want to come across rude (while answering her questions) but when she further probed "what does your husband do?"............

I took a long pause and said "YOU SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT I DO?"
that one shut her up.....LOL

Good come back. It's annoying that other people assume the husbands work the high paying job and the wife just spends all his money. I'm completely the opposite.

I tell them I found the jewelry in a crackerjack box. I guess a bag would be a tight fit:biggrin:

That's a great one. I could have used that yesterday. Wore my VCA large frivoles and got a very nice compliment from another parent who also works on a reality tv show. She paid a sweet compliment on my earrings and asked me if they were Fendi. I didn't want to be rude and say VCA so I just thanked her and said they weren't Fendi. [emoji254] I suppose that's still a classy-enough response. [emoji41]

Great response, BBC! These questions from people always leave me stammering and mumbling, they never get a coherent answer from me. Guess that works too. :girlsigh:

TPF is the only place I discuss H items. If a stranger or anyone other than a close friend asks me where I bought my bag, I usually say "Chinatown." I love H, but I am very low key and don't want to call attention, so I lie in reverse. :p

I think I found my twins lol. I am the same way. Exactly. My standard reply to "how many H bags do you have" is "I've seen people with a lot more than I do" (which is true btw).

If I may ladies~~

Although I have not ventured on to the Orange side yet~~^^

This thread is speaking to me...

Many acquaintances, business associated..etc~~who I run into enough times...

They make me feel relaxed and even join in on my accessory loves...asks me, press me for info and prod...so I open up....then pow..

The judgments and talk..I feel like I was coxed to speak on it and made comfortable..only to turn around and throw it at me..feel so mad and stupid as I feel like I should of known better...

I vowed this day never to speak on it..my motto will be...TOO PERSONAL AND DONT WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT!!

So livid!!!!

So happy to be on tpf where I feel so relaxed and excited to share..[emoji173]️

hmm... I posted a photo of my birkin on instagram, and a friend pulled me aside and asked me if it's real. Definitely not a nasty remark, but it also makes me think twice before posting my purchases on social media.

A SA at a department store I frequented caught me off guard once when he complimented my B30. I was surprised and didn't quite know how to respond so I just gave him a smile and continued to go about my shopping. I realized that my reaction was a bit rude as I didn't really respond or even say thank you. A few weeks later, I saw him again and he complimented my K32. I reacted better this time and thanked him. He continued to tell me about his grandmother who has a collection of H scarves.

Someone in a professional setting announced to everyone (people I was meeting for the first time) that I am "trying to say I'm rich, sophisticated, and fashionable". This is someone who has a higher position than me and I was in a position where I couldn't say anything because of it.

Nothing, of course, is said to the men wearing Rolex and Patek Philippe.

I'm in the midst of a potential change of careers and would like to say something on my way out but that would just be petty.

I would have just laughed and said, "Is there a problem with that?"

sorry that happened, it sounds like insecurity on their part. strong leaders don't have to try to minimize their team to make themselves look good.

If I'd had my wits about me, I would hope I would have responded, "Trying??" in mock horror. ;)
