I know this has been discussed before, but I am still very confused. I'm in my mid-20's and now that it's summer, I find that my t-zone is very oily. This was not a problem last year, so I recently purchased the la mer gel. I did get samples as well, so if I don't like it I can exchange it for the la prairie. Now, I love the way my skin feels after I apply the gel, but I did notice that during the day my t-zone still got oily. One of my girlfriends swears by La prairie, but the store didn't have any samples for me to take home and try. In the store I put both on either arms, and I liked the feeling of the la mer better. The la prairie product that I tried was the marine biology cream. My question is, is la prairie less oily? Will it make my t-zone less oily? or is there something else I'm missing with la mer that will help my t-zome? I definitely like the feeling of la mer on my skin better...

Hi: IMO you are comparing apples to oranges since the la mer gel is going to be of a lighter consistency than any cream, including the la prairie you tried. If you compare creams to creams in the lines, however, I find the la prairie products to be of a lighter consistency.

The la mer gel that you tried is a lightweight formula of the creme de la mer for the summertime, but doesn't control oil.

La mer has a lighter forumlation for people with oily skin like the oil absorbing lotion. For oily skin, la praire recommends the cellular normalizing serum. I have sensitive oily skin so I was using the cellular nurturing creme. The product you tried, the advanced marine biology cream is not for controlling oil but for aging skin which at mid-20s probably isn't an issue for you.

I didn't find a wow product in the lines for the money so I switched to revive. Now I am thinking of switching to amore pacific.

I would try to find samples of the products for oily skin (you can order la mer samples from their web site) and see what works best for you before buying anything.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I am currently using the Marine Biology something from La Prairie...and I have a jar of the La Mer gel waiting for me when I'm done. I love love love the La Prairie marine biology lotion...its not a creme and its sooo light weight. I heard many good things about La Mer so I decided to get a jar during the FF sale, but haven't gotten around to using it yet. So in short: I can vouch for the amazing-ness of the marine biology lotion!

Also, they recently came out with a toner and cleanser for the marine biology line!

I'm also in my mid 20's and have an oily t-zone. Maybe you're putting on too much product? I use toner then lotion then sunscreen and some powder. But honestly, there is not one product out there that will keep ur t-zone oil free for more than 5 hours.

La Mer contains wheat germ oil which is comedogenic ("pre-acne" causing with those lil white bumps filled with oil and which blocks your pores if uncleared).[/B]

If you ask me, a 21 yr old person with oily-combo and acne-prone skin, I prefer la Prairie.
The classic La Mer cream is suitable for people with extremely DRY skin. La Prairie has a much better selection of creams imo there's about 2-3 different creams for each basic skin type (oily, normal, and dry) whereas La Mer only has about 1 cream for each skin type (ie La Mer has a poor variety with only their classic/regular cream, lotion, and gel-cream, oh... and the tinted moisturizer if that counts...).

interesting. i've been using la mer for over a year now and i love it, especially the creme b/c it softens the appearance of my roscea.

however, i have noticed some tiny bumps on my cheek but i just assumed it was my cell phone use that was causing that.

i didn't vote b/c am only familiar with la mer.

I love la mer. I only started using it two weeks ago and already my skin looks so much better. Its glowing and my redness seems reduced. Its also so moisturized. I am in love with the whole line from la mer.

I have a question about La Mer. I have the full sample of of the creme and I bought it because I had tried samples and liked it.
Anyways I purchased the full size mostly on reviews.
But what is it's main purpose? I know I should probably use it regularly to get full results...but what should I expect?

La Prairie for me. La Mer breaks me out. I'm currently using the creme cellulaire radiance and my skin never looks radiantly nice every time i use it. =) pricey but worth it! ;)

I use the radiance creme and one of the serums and the eye cream from La Prairie, my skin has not looked better I love it! I used Le Mer but it was a bit heavy for my combination skin.
