That makes sense when you have access to public transportation and it used to be 13 so there is an improvement.
In addition, there are differences depending on where you are in Europe.
I am only familiar with policies in France.

13 used to be the driving age?
The driving age would not be as high in some areas unless the federal govt had not bribed states to change it lol

Ummm when I see some 18-year-olds that have just gotten their license I feel like 21 would be an appropriate driving age too sometimes :P Teens can be so reckless, especially when they are in a car with friends.

Also... I think driving cars is more necessary in the US because of the larger distances? So in that respect I can understand that the legal age is lower. Longer distances with fewer cars or complicated traffic situations is also much easier to drive, IMO.

It depends on the person. Some people are super coordinated and quick and focused - and they would be good on the road regardless of age. The type of people with good spatial reasoning and a sense of direction (literally).

However, I doubt having Kylie on the road is a good idea LOL - if she is anything like Kendall she will be texting while driving, etc. Not good or responsible. There's also probably a lack of responsibility because it doesn't matter if she wrecks the car, she'll just get a new one. Who knows though..

Got it! Thank you! By "minor license" do you mean a license that permits you to drive only when an adult is in the car too?

No, it's a minor license because you are under 18 and it comes with restrictions. With your minor or intermediate license you can't drive after 11 pm or before 5am and in some states you can't transport more than one minor without a licensed adult in the vehicle (a rule that is commonly broken).

Exactly.
Farmer's and rancher's children are taught to drive once their feet can hit the pedals. This helps the families out. Children born on farms and ranches are typically far more mature than the rest at a young age. They are an intricate part of helping on the farm/ranch.
In these areas, everyone knows everyone. Police ignore the underage driving, they know it is necessary. (I was not raised on a farm/ranch, in the suburbs.. fyi)

I was raised in a very rural area and what you said is true.

What I mean is driving is dangerous and can get people killed without experience and so can drinking
Having a child .. You have time to change and mature when you have a child ... It's completely different
Having a child made me grow up fast
If I had driven a car when I had I child I wouldn't be here, I had no sense of reality and dangers etc only having a child and falling in love taught me to respect others and my life ... Safety side of things
I would never have appreciated the dangers in life before having a child
I also did not really care ... Which is pathetic but it's true ... I was also very selfish and out for me until I had a baby and fell in love
Teenagers want to have fun mostly and sometimes you can forget fun gets people hurt x

You could have died anyways. Pregnancy is not always "safe". A driver matures, too.

Nope, the age of consent in france lol

That's what I thought you meant when I read that earlier. With that being said, 16 is mature enough.

eh--i still think 16 is far. and yes the US is much larger than most countries in europe. and isn't the speed limit generally much higher in europe? speed limits in the US are much lower i think.

My guess is only the German highway is significantly faster (no speed limit)... What are the speed limits in the US? Are they the same in each state?

nope. very rural states might have higher speed limits. but generally like 60-70 on the highways....small roads 30ish...neighborhoods 20..moderately busy roads 40..on the east coast at least

oh i was thinking of Germany...my dh goes there for work and told me the speed limits are high
