How old is Kendall? My little cousin happen to be watching KUWTK and Kendall was like we need a summer home etc..etc..so she went looking at homes and then tells her mom "I'm coming to you before I do anything" I mean really????

Boy times have changed. When I was 16, as long as you had passed driver's ed (not just gotten your license on your own) you could drive who and whenver you wanted.

Not sure if she is 18 already. If not she will be soon. I'm sure she has the money so once she's 18 not really anything Kris could do about it.

I've never heard of that. I always thought you could drive whoever you want after one year. Maybe you're right, I wouldn't know but that's just been my personal experience. So all those high schoolers under 18 who drive their friends around are doing it illegally?

16 seems too young for someone to be driving - IMO. Also, didn't she just turn 16? Like, a few days ago? Has she been having lessons before she officially turned 16? In Europe you have to be 18 to start having lessons. Personally, I would never get in the car of a 16 year old.

In the state of CA you get your learners permit at 15 1/2 and can obtain your minor license at 16. You have to provide proof of drivers ed completion and a parent has to sign saying you've had at least 50 hrs of supervised driving practice.

I know 25 year olds that you couldn't pay me to get in a car with :shrugs: Being older necessarily doesn't mean better/more responsible driver.

You used to be able to get your full license at 16 but most states changed that years ago. You have to go through a process now. Permit, minor license and then full license at 18.

I am in the US. The cities especially in the west are really spread out and don't have the transportation services that Europe provides.

In my case, once I turned 15, I had classes and then earned a *permit*. That permit provided I could drive with an adult (18 in the USA). So for the following year, until I turned 16, I drove my parents and me around to wherever we had to go. At 16, I was licensed.

What does suprise me is... isn't the age of consent 16 in Europe? And if I am right, then you can consent to have an affair with a 35 year old man, but you can't be trusted to drive?

if you can sign up to die for your country at 18, 16 isn't too young imo to operate a vehicle. ppl in rural areas learn how to [illegally] drive younger than that

Exactly.
Farmer's and rancher's children are taught to drive once their feet can hit the pedals. This helps the families out. Children born on farms and ranches are typically far more mature than the rest at a young age. They are an intricate part of helping on the farm/ranch.
In these areas, everyone knows everyone. Police ignore the underage driving, they know it is necessary. (I was not raised on a farm/ranch, in the suburbs.. fyi)

Got it! Thank you! By "minor license" do you mean a license that permits you to drive only when an adult is in the car too?

not in america it isn't...and at 16?! and 35?! yuck.
yeah not in america
especially since hypothetically you could give birth...so you can be a parent--but not drive? oh.ok. that makes sense.

That makes sense when you have access to public transportation and it used to be 13 so there is an improvement.
In addition, there are differences depending on where you are in Europe.
I am only familiar with policies in France.
