Congratulations!

For the lock/key situation, you can simply buy a cadena to replace the lock.

That's what I did for a Birkin that I bought recently that didn't have the key/cadena.

THANKS for all your kind advice and ideas on the mismatching "key/lock" situation. :smile1:

I will maka a "Want it Now" posting on ebay, good idea.
I have an elephant charm which I could use. It is currently sitting on a vintage Kelly, which has no original lock/keys, nor a clochette. Somehow, I find this easier to accept, than a mismatching set?!
, I love to visit the Flea market in Paris.

I feel happy about my Kelly, even if it will never be in a perfect condition. It will have some flaws, just like me!

Cheers Yvonne

Hello Girls

It's been almost 8 weeks since my last posting on this thread. In the meantime I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting patiently for my Kelly Croc to arrive!

And finally I have got my hands on it, for the second time! The big difference being this time, it will be permanently, forever and ever.

Hopefully we will soon be off to Paris. Kelly needs some serious treatment at Hermès. I will keep you posted on what happens and what Hermès may be able to do.

Cheers Y

Continuation.......

I left Kelly Croc. with Hermés Paris Dec. the 10th 2007 for restoration. About 7 weeks later Hermés called me and said Kelly was ready for pick-up. And now she is home!

Hermés did an excellent job and the bag looks almost as new!!! They fixed the undone seems, gave it a good polish incl. waxing all the edgings, and removed the green discolouration.
The bottom corners were my biggest worry, showing a lot of wear. However, even they look fine now. It looks like Hermés put some wax on, to protect from further scaling. Finally, they replaced the mismatching set of lock and keys, with a another vintage set, perfect.
This is what I think Hermés did? As it is all very secretive. Not even the lovely SA was able to give me any further details on the repairs. Well, I'm very, very happy with the outcome, and €550 poorer. :girlsigh:

The SA told me the waiting list for Birkins is 0-6 months (Faubourg Saint-Honoré store). They did not take any orders for crocodile Birkins at this moment, due to lack of leather. In the windows there were two “black croc beauties” on display, HAC 50cm not for sale.

So here the story ends! Thanks to all members who have taken the time to read this.:flowers:
