I got my birkin by walking in SF store while I was on holiday last Christmas.. I was so thrilled as it was my first birkin..

I don't know about other stores in the US, but I've walked in several times in SF and have seen birkins on the shelf. Three times I've seen exotics, one was even the black croc with diamonds. I tried that puppy on...so close and yet so far. Other times I've run into the iris, chocolate, Rose T., sanguine, mykonos (birkins and kellys)...Maybe I was just born under a lucky purse star. Never hurts to walk into an H just to check out.

Oh dear, no lucky stories from London! It's not surprising but I'm keeping my fingers-crossed....

I walked and bought a birkin from Selfridges. It was a couple of years ago, so unlikely to happen now. It wasn't on display, but I asked for one and the manager returned from the store room with one. I nearly fainted!

I understand the SM who helped me has left now.

Slightly off topic, the Bond st store doesn't seem to do a list at the moment, so I would try your luck early on a week day. I have never had any luck at this store, but others have!

good luck :smile1:

I am an expat currently working in Paris. I've been living in Paris for about 4 months now and every couple of weeks, I've visited the Hermes store on Fauborg St Honore asking them when will they be taking names to order for the Birkins bag. As of now, March 3, 2012 they are not taking any names due to management decisions. It has been very frustrating as I would like to get the 35 cm Birkins in Etaupe color. Would anybody have any suggestions ? I thought I would have a better chance of getting a Birkins by living in Paris.

I walked in my H store back in 2009 an asked if they had any Birkins & my SA brought out 2 Birkins one 40 black w/Phw and a 35 Gold /w GHW , I was stunned :woot: bc I actually had a Choice, I took 30 minutes to decide which one ,
Of course I got the Black 40 w/SHW :yahoo:

My fren's husband just scored a Etain B30 from London as a walk-in last month. There were a group of Asian ladies buying heaps of stuff when he entered the store. But the SA decided to show him the bag in a private room. He didn't hv any prior relationship with the SA & bought nothing else but the birkin. Like it or not, with H, SA's discretion is the deciding factor whether you can hv the bag or not.

Does he look like Brad Pitt or perhaps George Clooney?:D

That might explain things too!!!

Lucky you! a Birkin from Selfridges is unheard of. Thanks for the Bond St tipoff. I'll continue my search.

Having a good time reading this thread..

One day while my husband and I were doing window shopping at a local mall, we spotted a new store just grand opened on that week and it was Hermes. Back then, we didn't know much about Hermes so we decided to pay a visit there. As we were approaching the store, we saw a very nice bag in the window display.

In fact, my husband got very interested and we went into the store and asked the SA if we could take a look at the bag in the window. The SA hesistated a bit and asked his manager whether the bag was for sale or not. Then his manager gave him permission and the SA showed us the bag. I totally fell in love when I held it on my hand and didn't want to let it go until the SA told us the price. As I was preparing to say good bye to this beauty, my husband asked me "will you use this bag if I buy it?" I literally yelled out "hell yea" (oh dear, please excuse my inelegant behavior ). We went home happily on that day with an Oragne 28cm Kelly.

A year later, we went to Japan to see my friend (my husband didn't know that I was planning to do window shopping in the Hermes stores as well)! :graucho: We went to couple of Hermes stores but didn't buy anything. On the third day of our trip, my husband was begging me to not go to a Hermes store because he got bored already. I told him that this would the last one on our schedule so he gave me a green light to go. My mission was to see and possibly touch a BJ Birkin because it would be nearly impossible to spot one at where I live.

We went into the store but didn't see what I was looking for. As my husband was pulling me out of the store, a very nice SA approached us and asked what were we looking for. I politely asked her with my broken Japanese "do you have more Birkins with another colors?" She smiled and went into the backroom after I told her which color. After a few minutes, she really came out with a Blue Jean 30cm Birkin! I was super thrilled and again didn't put it down. At first, my husband gave me a No No face when I looked at him with a sad puppy face. But after a few minutes of discussion, we walked out with a big orange shopping bag!

These are my happy shopping experiences with Hermes and hoping more to come! :yahoo:
