It was $9975 pretax in Jan 2010 for Togo/Clemance. Not sure if the bags have increased in price since then. For reference, 90cm silk scarves did not have a price increase this year as the CAD has gone up so much.
Taxes depend on the province you purchase it in- Calgary, Alberta has lowest taxes (5%). Toronto, you pay 13%. Tourists do not get tax refunds.
great thread! I dropped three bags at the Hermes boutique, Atlanta, to be sent to NY, spa. While the paperwork was being done, I was chatting with the assistant manager. He was admiring my three bags, plume, lindy, birkin 35. He asked me is there was a bag I would like to have but didn't already have it. I quickly spouted I would love a black birkin 30 with gold hardware. A couple of months later he calls me and says guess what we just got in? That's how I acquired my birkin 30. I was actually surprised because I felt we were just having small talk.......
My first Birkin (35 Swift Bleu de Prusse, GHW) was in the window at the King of Prussia store. Someone had asked to have it brought in and then turned it down.
I don't know how much it costs in resellers (in fact, not too many resellers in Canada), but the price is a little bit less than CAD10,000 (pre-tax) as far as I can remember. Quite pricey though and it explains why it is easier to get birkin and kelly in Canada on the shelf.

NewBVfan, they always have a couple in the back, and at their discretion, they put them out on the shelves, who know why and when. Is there a special one you're looking for? Do you have an SA there that you work with? 2 days ago, divagal01 just got her dream birkin from SF (a 35 black with PHW). There're there, just got to know how to make them go to you.
