Please keep all of us here updated if you found any news on this. Like you said, it it can be done and we know that that particular model comes with GHW, we could save the trouble of finding it in GHW and go with the SHW and change it for the additional $120! I would love to do that to the 09A taupe!

Hi Lallybelle and Yodaling1. I just spoke to Emilsen at 57th Street Chanel 212 355-5050. I called her about my puffy quilted flap, that had been sent out to be re-dyed due to fading. I also asked her if Chanel changes chains and hardware from silver to gold. Emilson said that it is not Chanel's policy to change the color of the original chain or hardware. If it needs to be repaired, Chanel will replace the chain and hardware with the same color. Emilsen also said that Chanel doesn't have the grommets in stock, which would also need to be replaced as well. I think that LVdevotee was very, very lucky they changed it for her, because it doesn't seem like something they normally do.

So interesting :thinkin:. When my SA called to say that they could do it.....he said "I know that you were interested in getting the hardware on your Beige changed to gold....and we have not done this before, but I just received an e:mail saying that it can now be done. Would you still like to have it changed?".....So, it sounded like a very recent policy change...are you sure that she didn't say "this is Chanel's policy" bc that is what the policy has always been and she is not aware of the change?? :thinkin: Just a thought......

Emilson said that this has been Chanel's policy for a long time and is not aware of a new change in policy. So, there you have it from Emilsen. It does not seem like we can have this done in NY. Maybe we could all call our nearby boutiques and ask how the other boutiques are handling it?

If you do call other boutiques, I would make sure to let them know that it has been done recently and to please make a call to check on the policy change. I do not believe that mine was a special exception....they just said that they can now do it. Hmmmm....
 
^ I think balencia's post has been removed. Her other 2 posts elsewhere also reeked of sarcasm- sad that there are wet blankets like her.

I missed that post...but I wonder why this thread would get someone upset? I think it's neat (and lucky) that the OP was able to get their hardware swapped. :shrugs:

On a side note, I wonder if it's possible to have your hardware replated? Maybe a handbag restoration shop could replate the original hardware for you. That might be something that could be done and I bet around the same price!

LVDevotee, thanks for sharing your magical news. I also was going to asked within they changed the CC lock, but you showed us everything that was sent back minus the chain. That's great service. I haven't contacted my SA, but I also think you were lucky. If everyone could change hardware, maybe it would take away from the uniqueness of each bag. At first, I was a bit shocked that you wouldn't share SA info, but after looking at this entire thread, I respect your respect for your SA. And if it doesnt involve profit for your SA, she shouldn't be swamped with hundreds of calls to change out HW. Chanel should instead have repair associates to assist current clients - that would be a great world!

Anyways, congrats again. It looks fabulous and makes me wish I bought more purses back then regardless of HW lol!
