Happy Year of the Dragon! This custom ordered Lectoure wallet by Joseph Duclos has been crafted from lizard skin, which would probably resemble the skin of a dragon (if it exists). I am extremely happy to finally be able to hold this wallet in my hands! The lizard skin is beautiful beyond words, with its tiny round scales and glossy texture. Moreover, the emerald green colour is really striking.

This journey lasted eight months, from the initial payment and selection of the colour of the wallet, all the way to order completion and delivery to my address. I would like to say a big thank you to my mum for this wonderful graduation gift. Thanks are also due to Lumina of Joseph Duclos for coordinating everything from start to end, as well as the craftsmen who made my wallet. It has been a dream come true, and I am glad I chose Joseph Duclos for my graduation gift!
Congratulations on you graduation! :yahoo:The emerald green of this wallet is a beautiful! I love its vibrancy.

What a lovely gift, it looks beautiful, and a great way to usher in the year of the dragon 🐉

Main page doesn’t mean the brand has a ‘paid promotion.’
It most definitely is a paid promotion with TPF, like any other negotiated sponsor. The owners have stated to be so. If Hermes or Tory Burch had done so, would people deny it? It's a fact of business, not an editorial comment one way or another about the brand.

I'm personally glad to learn about J Duclos and am able to make my own judgments about its quality and likely future on this basis.

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand ‘If Hermes or Tory Burch had done so, would people deny it?’

And here’s the Vlad’s post I wrote about. Nowhere did he mention MOYNAT wanted to pay to have their brand on the main page with the big brands. He was thinking about adding them. This is why I questioned if JD’s representation was paid.

Perhaps we’re thinking of two different things — ads v. accessibility w/ one click.

I meant that being in denial about a paid sponsorship is not a good look, or reasonable, for any brand's
customer base. Did you not see Megs's explanation about the partnership with JD? https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/individual-brand-forums.1064164/#post-35816692View attachment 5946543
Thank you for sharing that post. I remember it. I didn’t know ‘partnership’ means a financial contract. Times have changed from Vlad’s post. I learn something new today. :flowers:

So what you’re saying is that this JD thread being up on the main page so that its easier to find is a paid partnership between the brand and tPF.
This does not mean, as some have implied, that positive feedback or any comments that people on this thread put up are a form of paid advertising.
Personally, I have no problems with a paid partnership that makes it possible for anyone interested in discovering a new brand to do so. Like you said, many brands advertise on both traditional & new forms of media, it doesn't detract from any of them.
What I find offensive is the suggestion (& open statement) that people on this thread are either being paid to like or support JD, or that we are a cult thats been brainwashed. Apparently anyone that likes JD has a hidden agenda, including two of France’s first ladies. Makes me wonder what is the hidden agenda of those that seem out to pull down JD :graucho:

Some info from the business side of the brand if someone is interested.

Interesting to note that 80% of their customers are already from abroad of France and 60% from US alone. So it´s pretty much an "Emily in Paris" type of business model, catering to Americans and Asians, but not appealing to French/Europeans. And they are already expanding accordingly. This year JD will open several boutiques in Asia and planning some in the Middle East, but not in US for now (will continue trunk shows, as they are bringing excellent profits).

After WWII, Dior and later Chanel owed their businesses to the US market. With online these days, it's not unusual, same with the whole MIJ Fude (hand bundled brushes) phenomena. In fact, if JD are selling 20% domestically, that's still a well received brand in France, the US has a much bigger market even in numbers alone (Fr = approx 68M v US 332M )

I received my Diane Messenger this week! My uneducated American brain is so impressed by both the quality and design of this bag. I’ve attached a few photos for reference - this is the heritage leather in ardoise with gold hardware. I can honestly say I’ve never felt a leather nearly as luxurious as this - and the smell is just insane! I haven’t had a chance to properly use her yet, but just today I’ve removed the protective stickers and filled her up!

I will admit I was a bit nervous about making such an expensive purchase from a brand that I’ve never seen in person! I spent the last year learning everything I could about JD (thank you everyone for your helpful and insightful posts on this thread :flowers:) and now that I finally did it, I have zero regrets. It’s not just another handbag - it’s the perfect marriage of style, functionality, and precise craftsmanship, and that iconic hardware is just *chef’s kiss.* It adds the perfect touch of sophistication that will elevate any look. The SAs went above and beyond in their customer service and truly made this feel like a luxurious experience despite being virtual. This was the first time I’ve felt that giddy excitement over a purchase in a very long time! ❤️

:congrats: it's absolutely stunning, and the messenger style looks great on you

Wow, it's amazing! Congratulations on your graduation too. You will have this wallet forever, an heirloom piece (I have my father's Gucci wallet from the 1960s)

I started this thread because I absolutely love the Diane and hope to own one one day. To make clear, TPF did not ask me to start it or even discuss JD at any time.

Thank you so much for making this 100% clear for those who may have doubts.
Several of us have previously said that we came to this thread because of an interest in 1) Ramesh’s creativity and focus on leather craft 2) independant brands with artisanal make.
If tPF entered into a partnership with JD to give the thread visibility on their home page, that is quite another thing. Its not paid content or advertorial. Our opinions are our own, and are not blindly positive, even from enthusiasts.

Also, thank you for setting up the JD thread @papertiger
