My parting thoughts on this before I am HOPEFULLY posting my L30 next week...

it is just as important to read dissent as it is to read supportive posts. If I were new to the brand I would be suspicious if everything I read online was "puppies and rainbows", to this end, it is always BUYER BEWARE, do your homework and decide if something is for you.
With JD a client can request and book a virtual appointment where they can ask to view almost anything and everything about the bags. The associates are empowered and willing to share any information about the process and are proud to show off the bags, accessories, and perfume.

I too am in love with Eau De Manufacture - i ordered a bottle to be sent with my L30. In my opinion, this fragrance beats all the TF's in the category of smoke and leather.
I’m excitedly anticipating your L30! Its my new dream bag in my dream size.:hbeat:

Curious to know if you’ve tried their other perfumes, I got samples of all except Eau de Manufacture, and they were too sweet/ floral for my taste. The one I liked the most was Lectoure, but not enough to get a whole bottle.

Like you, I had found all the scents cloyingly sweet - until, eau de manufacturer. They sent me a sample of it as a gift when it was released, I almost threw it out, but it was delivered to my office and one day I forgot to wear fragrance and decided to give it a go, I immediately loved it.

Smoke and leather that is the best way I can describe it, maybe with notes of pepper - I am no Nose; I just tend to like either earthy or smoky.
My faves: Initio: Oud for Greatness and Oud for Happiness, By Killian: Intoxicated and Sacred Wood, and Diptyque: Tam Dao

I have a smattering of Tom Ford scents but if they sit too long then start to smell sweet to me, and then I have a few outlier fragrances - but the aboves are my go-to's so if you like any of those or like smoke and leather that is not overtly masculine you probably would love this.

Thank you for this vivid description … smoke and leather sounds heavenly.
I do like some masculine notes in my perfume, or else something off the expected notes, a touch of bitter with the sweet. I also like to wear a blend of perfumes, like layering Hermessence rose and pepper. I’ll give Eau de Manufacture a try and let you know

may I ask what was customized with the strap you ordered? was it only the length or a completely different type of strap (e.g. canvas)?
I customized the length. I wanted something that fits me and my needs. The details on the strap are not like anything I have ever seen before. The closest I have seen this type of detailing was at a luxury curtain and accessories store when my mother was ordering custom drapes for her home.

I’m excited as well. When I saw the bag during the launch, I knew I wanted it. I’m contemplating yellow Diane or L30.

Hello
I'm getting a little confused between the comparison of Hermes barenia leather and JD heritage leather..... i read somewhere that barenia is somewhat water resistant, yet heritage is not..... thank you

Hi all JD lovers. I feel like we need to start a new thread for lovers of this brand only. No negative comments, no attacking the brand. Just honest talk about the bags, design and Ramesh. And that would include issues too, nobody is saying this brand is perfect. I am thinking about this as this thread has a tendency to totally stress me out when people come in here just to attack. I don't usually mind negative comments but these feel like an attempt to sully the JD reputation for nefarious reasons.
To that point, I'm glad you said something because it's gotten weird for me in here. Kinda reminds me of the British royals' threads, it's so polarized. And over...a bag brand? I don't get it. I check back in every once in a while to see if anyone's posted any new purchases or IRL pics of the newest JD bags but I've otherwise decided to disengage. You can't even really use the ignore button and still make it work because the thread does not make any sense, the majority of discussion is either people dissing the brand or people defending the brand's honor.
I enjoy reading people's honest opinions but the polarization makes me question whether people are being that honest with themselves...on both sides of the debate, frankly.

They sent me a bottle of Lectoure as a gift to make up for some problems I had with a bag I ordered from them. I wear if often. It's a nice floral citrus for me, but then that's exactly how my tastes in fragrance run.

I wouldn't characterize it as "polarized" - more like a bit derailed by a (former user's) personal agenda that has little to do with informing fellow enthusiasts about personal experiences with the bags.

I'm glad to be hearing all of the positive feedback on the fragrances. That's not something I had paid attention to (I gave a quick sniff of the samples I received a while ago but I don't think actually tried them on). I have 2 longstanding cold- and warm-weather ones and it takes a big tempt to lure me away from them. The eau de manufacture sounds like it might be up my alley though.

All this talk of the scents is making me want to dig up the samples I received last year. I'm owning up to the fact that I have a basic bish taste in fragrance. I gave away any of the samples that have amber or oud in them. Though I do have to admit, that vibe goes well with the JD aesthetic.
