I had been wanting this flag for my dining room forever, and it went on sale, plus PB sent me a coupon, so I got it!

The *big* catch is that I have to paint my dining room in order for it to work. DH is not going to be pleased, but I've been hating my current (green) dining room color for like 5 years.

I love love LOVE that flag!!! I love americana! excellent choice, & you'll have to post pics when the room is finished.

although DH won't be pleased, you HAVE lived with the color for 5 years. have you ever painted a room yourself? I have done it many, many times. it's not as hard as you think it's going to be. in a small dining room, it won't take long at all. are you planning to paint it yourself, or hire someone?

I think what I'll do is kind of half and half. I have a friend who retired from my company, who we hire for handyman stuff. I think I'll have him help me do it, to cut down on the time. I've painted a lot, the only thing that will be a huge pain is that there is a big heavy hutch in the room which will have to move.

I think I want to paint it VERY slightly off white, kind of like the room pic.

it's always nice to have help. & yes, the hutch will be a major pain.

going to look at the link again. are you SURE you want to pain the room in a white shade? will you get bored with that? I think of dining rooms as an opportunity to be more intense in color. is it a closed-off room? or does it open into other rooms?

lol...my brother has the chandelier in the 2nd pic!

have you thought about a nice khaki shade? a light khaki? that would give a little color & richness. of course, this is just my opinion based on my preferences.

I do need to change my siggy. I think I ought to not have a wish list, because then I start with the plans.

It's funny you mention about the inside of the ring. When I got my bracelet, it all went so fast, and then it was ON, so after we were done, I asked to see the inside of one, so I knew what it looked like!

What is the inside look like? I just posted my Love ring on Authentic Jewelry since yesterday, but no reply yet. I am checking for repsonse very hour. Any ladies her know Cartier stuff that could help me?

Over the weekend, I had to go the the Consignment store to demand for my money back because the Balenciaga City that I had on layaway is fake. I was all bumped.... They did not look happy with me.

^ If it's a replica Cartier, it would be suck for me because I cannot ask for money back or mention to my friend sister.

I am very spacey lately. I was supposed to meet my new tenant yesterday but could not locate the condo keys and mailbox key. I thought I left at work, but I checked at work and can't find it. Urgh!!! Not a very good morning. I already rescheduled to later this pm. I am loosing my mind.

frick&frack - So, my house is a 1940 New England Colonial. The dining room is pretty small, and it originally had wood paneling. UGH. So, it's painted paneling.

It's green now, which I wanted to be sage, but it's just not the color I was expecting, and I think the paneling thing makes the green look really weird / bad. I thought the white would kind make it look like that room in the flag room photo with the white sofas?

What do you think?

I'm changing my vote due to the influx of new info! :p

white painted wood paneling is ! will look PERFECT with the flag.

do you have a colorful rug in there (I'm assuming you have wood floors)? I'm also assuming the hutch is stained wood. do you have a large window? what is the curtain fabric? do you have fabric on the chairs?

I've been watching the greatest program on HGTV lately. let me find you a link...

here it is...sarah's house: http://www.hgtv.com/sarahs-house/show/index.html

she bought an old farmhouse in canada (prob near toronto), & she's redecorating & adding on. watch the dining room episode. she put up white painted paneling, fabric on the walls above the paneling, fabric on the seat cushions & curtains (bold colors), wood furniture, & a richly colored rug. I think you could do something similar & it would look fantastic! the sophisticated country style is similar to the style that you're after in the pottery barn pic.

Yay for advice!

One wall will be flag, one wall is hutch and doorway into kitchen, and the other two walls have regular size windows with those squares in them - know what I mean? The hutch is a medium to dark pine, the table (+4 chairs ) is medium pine, and there is no rug.
