Hi cluelessBF,Hey guys,
So I need a bit of help. I just bought a lovely necklace for my girlfriend's birthday which is in a week, and I have a quick question for you all.
I bought this necklace online (not eBay, how cheap do you think I am?) and because it was custom made, it did not come in a box, but rather a lovely little pouch. So I went to my uncle who owns a junk removal service who recently did a removal for a jewellery store that was closing down, and I asked him if he had any empty necklaces boxes I could have. He only had a few and only 2 are useable. So I opened them up... and I have no fricken idea how to put the necklace inside it to make it look decent for when she opens it up. I tried many different ways but it keeps getting all bunched up.
So here's where you guys come in. I need help trying to figure out how to get it in one (or both, then take my pick) of these boxes, so it will look nice when she gets it. At the end of this post I will post pictures of the necklace, and both boxes so you can better help me out. The necklace chain is 50 cm long, in case it helps.
Thanks in advance.
The necklace (it is a replica of Arwen's Evenstar from Lord of the Rings)
Close up.
The first box (and my personal preference). Please note: the bottom section lifts out.
The second box.
Thanks in advance!

Hi cluelessBF,
first off how cute are you for having that custom made for your GF!!! I'm assuming she is a big LOTR fan. When i watched those movies I was always staring at the elven necklaces and those rings too!!
I think you should use the top box, it's much more of a presentation
okay here goes,
step 1: lift up the bottom panel of the jewellery box
step 2:arrange the pendant so it is halfway down the panel and situated in the center.
step 3: drape the remaining chain behind the back side of the panel
step 4 you can also use those two little tabs on the front of the panel to hold the pendant in place by tucking the chain in behind them.
step 5: put the panel back into place within the jewellery box making sure the pendant is still centered on the panel and close the lid. voila!
hopefully this isn't seem complicated because putting it in the box shouldnt be that hard!!! good luck
hmmm it could just be the box...some boxes the bottom section fits snugly but others are kind of floating around loose int he box. yours seems to be the latter.... have you explored to idea of a carved wood box or something more organic feeling, kind of the same feeling of the pendant?Hey Candice,
Thanks for the tip! However, I tried that, but the the bottom section moved around a bit and I simulated moving it around (when she opens it) and then opened it back up and it was all over the place. Is there any possible way of using your suggestion, but somehow making the chain and bottom section fit snuggly into the box with little movement?
Thanks again.

PS - Yes, she is a LOTR fan, as am I. And since I've never bought her jewellery before, and I'm a big movie buff, I figured this necklace would be like bread and butter![]()
Hmm, not sure where I'd find a wooden necklace box, but I could always look. I like that idea.hmmm it could just be the box...some boxes the bottom section fits snugly but others are kind of floating around loose int he box. yours seems to be the latter.... have you explored to idea of a carved wood box or something more organic feeling, kind of the same feeling of the pendant?
or you can keep this box and just be super careful not to jostle the necklace around when handing it over?
velcro could work, it shouldnt tangle no matter what because the excess chain is behind the bottom section's panel it's not in the front with the pendant right?Hmm, not sure where I'd find a wooden necklace box, but I could always look. I like that idea.
But if I have to go with the one I got, maybe I'll try to find a way to fasten the breakaway bottom to the bottom of the box (velcro?) so there will be restriced movement.
When you usually buy/received a necklace, is there similar movement when you open yours up? I just don't want it opened up and it's all in a tangled mess![]()
YES! you did itThis is probably the best I'll be able to get it:
Is that right? If it is, I'll just have to tell her to be careful when she opens it and not move it around too much.
Side note: This is the pouch it came in. I was debating on leaving it in there, but it doesn't really scream romantic lol. I mean, it's cute, but it looks better in that box.
