I always found it funny that she complained the Birkin bag was heavy. Girllll that thing was stuffed to the eyeballs. OF COURSE it was heavy

Thank you for posting the video @papertiger! I honestly so love that she dangled whatever she wanted on it and made the bag truly hers. It’s so unpretentious and you could tell each charm was meaningful to her in some way and the sounds brought joy. The little jingles does sound cute!! These bags really do wear so well.
Do we happen to have a photo thread on super slouchy/lived in H bags a la JB? We mostly see pristine bags and some vintage around here so it would be lovely to also see the overstuffed, slouched up, filled to the brim bags!![]()
If you ever saw pictures in her home, it was very messy and cluttered. I guess she just wasn't an organizer for all her style and flair.I always found it funny that she complained the Birkin bag was heavy. Girllll that thing was stuffed to the eyeballs. OF COURSE it was heavy![]()
I still want a woven basket like hers to use as a purse! Love her vibe.
off topic but in the 60's my mother (a bohemian free spirit in those days) used to carry exactly that same basket!I still want a woven basket like hers to use as a purse! Love her vibe.
I've seen them on etsy and other websites for 100 dollars, which is a lot! I'm waiting for a day when I spot one out in the wild. Maybe I'll buy one then. I love that you have memories of your mom associated with this bag.off topic but in the 60's my mother (a bohemian free spirit in those days) used to carry exactly that same basket!
I suspect she brought it in one of the Portuguese shops that were around Portobello road where we lived.
I remember it vividly as a child and it used to annoy me because it always seemed to be banging into meand I once got a splinter off of it!
I now wish I'd kept it for myself as even when she moved onto 'normal bags' she kept it in the kitchen to store potatoes and onions!
