Come celebrate/scold my gambler's trigger finger. I bought this for 1. way too much, given obvious fading, and 2. no guarantees that my hunch is correct, which is that this is an 04 eggplant. I consider myself a foster mom for beat up/non-pristine vintage pieces that will still get plenty of love from me. But seriously, I have no evidence that this is an eggplant, so in the end there could be egg on my face. The only detail I had to go on was the thin tassels, which I've only seen on pre-05 makeups. And I consoled myself with the price given that "at least the back side isn't faded :frown:".

Yes, I have a problem. Will post verdict when it arrives.

I’d say definitely eggplant and price is pretty good!

Nice..
I had looked at this before and almost bought it.. If it is indeed Eggplant, you didn't pay too much IMO.
I'm hoping that the fading is mostly camera flash because it looks faded in photo 1 but the others, especially the last photo look pretty good and not faded.
The leather & color looks exactly like my Eggplant MU.
I think you scored. :yahoo:

This is reassuring! Thank you both! Now I'm even more excited.

Lol at Pika wanting to buy it when she already has one. Mainly because I can totally relate!! I have a 03 PH black first and a 04 PH black first, and I tell myself I need them both because one has a longer strap. And I swear, it takes every last ounce of my self-control to not buy the next time a 03/04 PH black first shows up.

Also, as per fading, it is a deep enough color that you can almost safely try some "Leather Honey," on the front, without fear of dark spots. That stuff can be dangerous, but it does deepen color.

I understand the duplicate craziness. I've bought a second of something I love more than once, with the rationale that one will certainly be sold, as soon as I decide which one must go.. There has never been a clear choice. Never, ever.

  Yeah I'm a lil bit mental about having doubles if possible..
That way I can wear/use my favorites and know that I have a back up if I ruin them. I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one.. I have the Dark Violet City in silver HW, reg HW and I think gold too. Sssshhh don't tell anyone. :P

I restrained myself though and I'm happy I did because now you have one.. :yahoo:
Yes, Leather Honey, as Connie said, should refresh that color if needed..
I think you might be pleasantly surprised though.. I'm hoping for not very faded.

@Conni618
Thank heaven I'm among those that understand the duplicate mania.

This is the first I’m hearing of leather honey. Thanks for the suggestion, Connie. I’ll look into it. I’m intrigued because it sounds like it’s so good at deepening colors that one must use it with caution!! It will be most dangerous in my reckless hands.

It's wonderful. I've used this for years..
It goes on like real honey and you allow it to sit overnight and soak in.
It moisturizes so well and I've even used it to rehab corners that were very dry & faded.

You can get it on Amazon. You'll love the results..

ETA: I've never tried it on a light color so for light colors I would definitely test first, in a small, inconspicuous place.

This purple beauty is so beautiful!!!! What amazing condition it is in (flawless!) — the color is so saturated and unbelievably pretty!!! You are very lucky to have found a gorgeous purple First and Town (I am envious but will be happy admiring your pretty newbies, from ban island or rather ban continent ). Huge congrats Jen :).

Aaaack! Please be aware this Vaseline type concoction should never be used on light colored bags. It is not possible to spot check, because it creates unsightly dark stains in random sections of the leather. The same bag can be impervious to staining in one area, while another section or spot will stain. The older chevre leather is very susceptible, and you can destroy a precious bag in seconds! I’ve done it. :crybaby:
