since it will be your only watch for a while and it's commemorating months of hard work, i say the gucci. it seems like the type of watch that works well casually but shifts seamlessly into a business or semi-dress look when you need it to. the dior, while pretty, strikes me as trendy. if you decide to have more than one time piece though, buy the dior next since everyone says it's SO you. :smile1:

i like the plain gucci more than the one with diamonds. imho there's enough sparkle on the face with the diamond numeral markers that you don't need it in the bezel as well.

btw: how much is the gucci? i've been looking all over for something similar to that....

ETA: just read the whole thread. if the tank is now an option i vote tank 110%. now that's a classic watch.

You ladies are the best!

Now you're all going to laugh...

I really want the ROADSTER now.

Do you see what I mean? I cannot make up my mind to save my life! I will confess that yesterday I was pretty set on getting the Gucci. But now... :D

I'm terrified of going into the Cartier boutique because I know that I will just fall madly in love with their LOVE collection and will not focus on the real issue at hand. I am, unfortunately, extremely easily distracted too...

hehehe but thank you so much for all your words. I can see what the general consensus is.. and hopefully I will update with a REAL DECISION soon. I am going to go see the Gucci today and maybe something will click..

I completely changed my vote.

I vote for the Dior now!!! I was just there today and bought a ring and the Christal watches are TDF. That picture does not do justice to the watch at all.

I love your watches. Really, it's so difficult, I have a sizeable collection--a mix of classic, blingy, fun, etc. For your first serious watch, pls. don't pick the Gucci or Dior. Great brands, but as watch afficiandos will tell the name of your watch should not also be on your jeans, or whatever. The creme de la creme is Patek Phillippe, even better Rolex, I am told. However, since budget might be a consideration, why not a nice Concord, or Tag, or perhaps a nice Longines? (I love some of there tank watches.). Raymond Weil is another brand to consider. Your first watch doesn't have to be a Rolex if you don't want it to be; it's not the price of watch that makes it good, so you have lots of options. If you take good care of your watch, it is going to last you for years without any problems. The irony is, today I had to send a high end watch in for repair, and I have only had it two months. On the other hand, my little Guess watch I bought in 1993 still works. Go figure.

Among your choices I like the third watch the most. However I agree that perhaps you want to look into a few more watch-centered manufacturers. I can understand how you don't feel comfortable wearing Omegas or Rolexes at 23, however there are many great watch brands in your range that are more feminine and understated such as Concord, Baume et Mercier and Longines. Then there are brands like Oris and Hamilton that sell reasonably priced watches with well-made automatic movements.

Check out the Tourneau.com. There are so many watches, it can be dangerous ;)! Good luck on your shopping and whatever your choice, I think this is an exciting time for you, so have fun.
