Is yellow gold making a comeback? Yay or nay?

I've always preferred white gold, but I think it depends on your skin tone. People with golden skin tones would look better with yellow gold, IMO. Honestly, I don't really wear any yellow gold (except from two little bracelets, but I just put them on like a week ago) and the yellow gold in my jewelry collection has never really been worn... I'm thinking about finding a long necklace my grandmother once gave me, though, because I think it'd be pretty fashionable right now, but I have gold rings that I know I will never wear, even though I was the one who picked them out :s And I really don't care for yellow gold with diamonds at all.

I'm really pale so YG warms me up. It's also the only way I can wear diamonds - in YG. My wedding ring is my great-great grandmother's. It dates to 1852 and is 22ct. It's the warmest YG colour and I love it. WG and platinum with my Irish colouring (dark hair, pale skin & freckles) just make me look ill.
IMO it comes down to personal preference anyway. Who cares what's out or in? Surely you wear rings etc because you love them and not because they're trendy?

^^^ I agree 100% sarajane!

I remember I wore my 1980's small metallic gold bag to a club 3 years ago and my friends just laughed at me saying "are you back in 80's?" Well I loved it and guess what? all these metallic gold and silver bags, shoes, and clothes are trendy again! well you know I loved my metallic gold bag from the 80's, I used it.

Looking at prices above I see one reason yellow gold is hot! But chicken or the egg here is it high price because it is in demand or is it in demand because it is going up in price?
well that has nothing to do with yellow gold beeing trendy etc as it just states that gold is getting more valuable in general (no matter what alloy used) e.g 18kwhitegold is as much gold as 18k yellow gold it is only the alloys defining its color:flowers:

100% agree!!!

I wear a Cartier Trinity ring with scattered diamonds. The rose, yellow and white gold bands have been a classic since the 1920's and remain so today. The Trinity line has been expanded and I'm looking...just looking...at some matching earrings. I think certain styles of jewelry may come and go, but beautifully designed yg pieces are here to stay.

I prefer to wear silver jewellery but I do like still like yellow gold...I like ALL tones of gold LOL. I'd wear it if it was or wasn't in. But to answer your question, yes I do think it is making a comeback. Its much more popular among celebs and fashion jewellery ect in the last couple years IMO!
