Is the pochette Métis a great bag for travelling and holidays?

Hello all! Hope you can all help me with your thoughts, comments and feedback on the pochette Métis.

I’m thinking of getting a crossbody bag for travelling, once Covid settles down. Don’t know how long that will be….but still want to think abt getting a bag for when travel opens up again.

I initially hard my heart set on the mwt bumbag, but that’s discontinued now and I feel the mono would be too much vachetta to worry abt so am thinking maybe the pochette Métis would be good with the canvas strap, 3 compartments inside and crossbody option.

What does Métis owners think? Does anyone also use theirs for holidays and travels as well, storing passports, sunnies, camera, paperwork, essentials, mini water bottle etc… for travel? Would you recommend it? And I’m gathering with the new models there are no more glazing, cracking issues as well? Is it a fairly light, easy to use and wear bag?

If you don’t recommend it, what would you suggest? Any help would be great.

Also, if you have the Métis, would you recommend it still after the latest price increase? Is it worth it or should do get something else?

Thanks for everyone’s comments in advance. Have a great weekend all!
It is a great every day bag. I have the regular mono and love it. It would be too small for me for traveling I think. For travel I would prefer a speedy.

I use my Odeon MM in noir a lot and I think it would make a great travel bag. Zip top, front pocket, no vachetta and I wear it over the shoulder and cross body. The bag can fit quite a bit….I have the pochette metis but I am not sure it would fit everything as a travel bag….
Thanks for the info. I will check out the odeon mm.

Oh dear Bumbles.. I can write a looong essay about PM. I have love and hate relationship with this bag. I bought and sold many times since it was released few years back.. I have tried canvas and leather. I have used it for work, travel, daily, diaper bag (can fit wet wipes and 2 diaper). So yeah.. In short you have to get it..
Here is me in Paris, 1 time was not pregnant and the year after was pregnant, with 2 different mono PM, yeah I know, just crazy, sold and bought the same bag many times..

Yes, I agree abt the hype hence I have never gotten or thought abt the Métis. Thanks for your honest opinion. What would you use instead then, if you don’t mind me asking?
For travel I like to use either a small Longchamp cuir or the small Loewe puzzle. both are light and Spacious without getting in the way. They’re also low key and will not draw unnecessary attention. For me, I can carry both three ways, crossbody, On shoulder or hand carry. Both can carry all the items you’ve listed , the longchamp maybe more.

Hey @Bumbles , I don't follow this bag at all but great thread! If it helps, remember you get GST refund if you purchase 60 days before leaving Australia, though price may increase again before you head overseas I guess. Good luck deciding ;)

Thanks for sharing balen.girl. It looks great on you. How come you bought and sold? Due to glazing and cracking or just bored of it and wanted something different? Do you still own one now? Your pics in Paris are stunning. I can’t wait til when we can travel again. It looks like it suited you well as a travel bag. Was it heavy when you put your things in? Does the strap dig on your shoulders or is comfy? Appreciate your comments as always my lovely friend! :hugs::flowers:  But the price it’s gone to after the pi right? Omg!:wtf::yucky::whut: It’s a hefty price now to pay. Would you buy at that price?

That’s great to know. Longchamp have really nice, practical bags. I have also been eyeing their Le pliage cuir xs crossbody in all leather as well but with Covid haven’t had a chance to go to the shops to check it out. Thanks so much! :hugs::heart:

Thanks @bagsamplified yes that is a slight bonus but can we find the bag before we go that’s the next question lol hehehe I’m not going away anywhere yet, but just looking at my opinions since the bumbag is discon and want to get in before the next pi. If you know what I mean. Crazy but true. Already thinking abt next pi. It will be over 4K then :frown::blah::cursing:

I get what you mean, definitely wise to plan ahead!

Just looking at pics of the bag, hmm to me it looks like for travel, it could be a bit narrow if you put a round 600ml drink bottle in? Like it could bulge a bit? Which isn't a problem, more something to possibly be aware of. Wonder if it'd fit a standard size foldable umbrella, too. But I don't own it and have never tried it (not my style, though it's a very stylish bag!), these are just things I think of when travelling.

Looks like it'd be amazing for home, too. Like a great office bag as well as for weekends! Good luck deciding

@Bumbles I think you should just buy the Pochette Metis before another price increase. It's such a wonderful, beautiful bag, not to have in your collection. Once you own it, you will realize you have to play Tetris with what you put in, especially with the accordion compartments.

The real question is monogram or reverse. Now, I've given this lots of thought and research before ending up with the monogram.

Here are my two cents.
  1. Reverse if you don't want to be bothered with vachetta at all.
  2. Realize Reverse will give you a secondary color to your bag, so what you wear will be important.
  3. Monogram is classic. But it's too classic and who doesn't want something different?
  4. Monogram handle can be dressed up with bandeaus or Hermes twilly and the bag will have an entirely different look. A spring/ summer look or fall/ winter look. Mine is in the fall/ winter mode right now. Will change for spring/ summer.
  5. Regardless of print, this is such a cool piece to have. The strap is worth the money if you price it in and use it on your other LV goods. I also love how you can wear the bag without a strap.
I'm cheering you on!
Now a question from me to everyone else: Graceful PM or Odeon MM? I want to make a purchase as well before another price increase!

So…. I have 2 métis’ and love them. The Métis and the bumbag are my go to travel bags. I have had the mono Métis for 3 years now and just added the noir empreinte in January.

Depending on my destination, I pack either the Métis or the Bumbag in my carry on tote, and I use it once I get there. The Métis holds everything you wanted it to hold in your post, even a small water bottle. I just came back from Paris and used the metis every day there except for one day. It carried my wallet, passport, small change purse for euros, small water bottle, toiletry 15 and phone. The only day I did not carry the Métis was the day I went shopping for souvenirs with my Daughter because I knew I’d have to carry a lot of the bulky stuff she bought, so I brought my Goyard tote that day.

side note about the bumbag- I think it’s also fantastic and I stopped caring about the vachette. I wore it to Disneyland and universal last summer. It got wet and I didn’t care. At 40, I’m too old to care now! I want to enjoy my stuff!!

good luck with your decision. We all agonize and overthink which is why we are here. Thank goodness we have eachother!!!!

Thank you for your detailed and thorough post and your pics! You’re looks so pretty especially with the bandeau! I initially had thought I would get the reverse, but then like you said the colour combo worn with it would be important so I thought the mono would be easier to match and wear. And now I saw some more pics and the black looking stunning too. Does yours have any glazing or cracking issues? What year is it? I have all the classic popular LV bags except this and the multi pochette and bumbag. So definitely tossing up bw PM and bumbag, but leaning more towards PM. Thanks for your support and encouragement. I will definitely have to go into store when they have them and try it out. Lucky the pi just happened so I have some time to make a decision and pick what I like. Hence I’m starting early. Right after the pi. Stupid me thou,, always waiting to get after a pi. Not before hahaha

Now onto your phone question. Grace or odeon? Unfortunately I don’t have either, but I guess which style would work for you more? Shoulder or crossbody and also how much room do you need? Lucky pi has just happened so we both have plenty of time to research and make a decision before that happens!;)

Thank you for your lovely post! Very sweet of you!:hugs:Omg  you hit the nail on the head totally. I also want to use it when I go to Disneyland, universal or amusement parks too. But I’m concerned abt the vachetta on the bumbag hence thought the PM would be better for me, but now after your comments and not caring (which is so true and just enjoying the bag, no matter what, wet or not) made me think maybe I should get the mono bumbag and not care too?? :graucho::giggle::lol: Decisions decisions. I love your thinking though. Life is too short so we should enjoy life and all our bags without the worry! Sometimes easier said than done hehehe If I get the bumbag I have til the end of the month to get it as it’s gone then. Do you have any pics of your bumbag you can share? Did you spray the vachetta when you first got it or just use as it, and let it happen naturally? My hubby likes the mono bumbag more than the mwt, as it’s got that nice beige which brightens the bag up and when the vachetta patinas to a beautiful honey colour it’s more pretty. How long have you had your bumbag for?

The PM looks great on you and sounds perfect for what I want to use it for too! Now I’m so confused;):giggle::lol: They both sound good. Have you had any issues with your PM? Any glazing or cracking? I read and watched YouTube’s that mention that too so made me a bit iffy.

I’m so glad both bumbag and Métis are great for travel. If you could only choose one, which one would you get?

Thanks for the lovely and informative post. Makes me very excited (but so confused:lol::lol::lol:) on what to get for my travel bag. Makes me want to buy both, but I know I only need one.

Sorry for the long post! Thanks for the encouragement! :girlsigh::hugs::flowers::heart:

I think it‘s a cute bag and I have it in black empreinte which I use for travel. But there is no space for a small water bottle. I even have difficulties to fit my sunglasses in addition to my daily stuff. What I don’t like on the canvas version is that it looks crooked when fully packed. Same on black leather but not that obvious because it’s more smooth material.
