Is LV Luggage worth $2500? Trying to decide whether to buy...

I would buy a couple of bags or a suhali bag, I love the luggage but I personally would not be able to fly with it I would always be worrying if someone was going to steal it! jmho!

I've had the monogram pegase for about 7 years and LOVE IT!! I feel so good when I get to carry it. I travel rather frequently and was forced to check it on a flight to New Zealand about 4 years ago. I was very nervous, but since then have checked it a few more times (always on international flights) I make sure I am watching every bag as it comes out of baggage claim. These days I am more concerned about what is IN the bag, as I feel I have had enough happiness to make it worth the cost of the luggage. I have checked it plane side over 30 times. Yes the first scratch to the leather handle was painful, but now I just feel it adds character. Also, seeing it go plane side in the rain hurt, but it has held up VERY WELL. The leather is a little aged, but beautiful and the canvas can be wiped clean. This piece has probably brought me more joy than any other of my LV or Chanel bags. After 7 years, I still smile when I look at my Pegase, I cannot say that for any of my Tumi luggage. The majority of the time I am able to put it in the overhead bin, and I have had flight attendants store it in there personal closet when the luggage was new and they could see I didn't want to check it plane side. Also, with the new covers it should protect it more (not that it's necessary) and also make it somewhat incognito. So basically GO FOR IT!! (There is part of me that would like to get a new one in Azur, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with mine, and I've been told LV with fix it if there ever is.) ***Also, although I have checked mine before, I don't recommend it, there have been times I HAD to on foreign carriers. Plane side checking, I feel is pretty low risk of loosing your luggage, not to say it won't get thrown, but you purchased a rugged LV that can deal with it.*** hth

I know this is an old thread, but I just brought the Pegase 60 (w/ the round zipper front).

1. I think i'm in love
2. I agree checking it would be a big deal, but I hate checking bags in general (all that waiting around at baggage claim) and it should fit on the plane (Pegase 60 owners, please let me know if you've had trouble). I'm always very conscious of getting on quickly regardless of who made my luggage to make sure everything has space.

3. from what i'm reading, they seem to be road ready...
4. I did by used... so only $1825 no tax, no shipping.. (today, which is why I can't stop typing about it.. I have 'shopper's high'... :)) Don't know if that was a good deal or reasonable, but I can tell you I'm pretty giddy.

Congrats!! I did actually find a used piece on Ebay and am very happy. I bought a Damier 55 I think? Ha ha I'm not even sure what size I got anymore, I just know I love it. I've only been able to use her a few times, both times luckily I was on large enough planes I didnt get her checked at the gateway. But I am really happy. I paid $1100 so I think I got a good deal too

oh yeah, I think the 55 will always fit.. My rule will be if it doesn't fit, throw a fit. :) (Watch me get kicked off a plane because of my LV.... ha!)

$1100 is a really great deal. I'm newly terrified of ebay.. dealing w/ that now... Brought a Prada duffle and Prada Pyscho said thumbs down on authenticity... Seller seems reasonable so far though so hopefully it's not too hard of a lesson to learn. :( There are definitely finds though if you can navigate the minefield!

I won't spend so much on a luggage...furthermore, I always think it'd only worth it if you usually travel first or business class. Else the luggage will just be thrown around!

I think 55 is the max size that will typically fit in the overhead bins (or the max that many airlines allow).

As much as I love the pegase, I would not feel comfortable ever checking it if necessary. I had to gate check my keepall 55 on a flight once because it was a tiny regional turboprop plane, and it made me very sad to have it out of my hands. Plain luggage "disappears" all of the time, Vuitton would probably look even more attractive to a luggage thief.

I have a Pegase 60 and it fits in the overhead. It was a graduation gift and I LOVE it. I've had mine for 2 years now and I use it all the time when I travel. It fits the perfect amount of items for about 5 days (with minimal shoes, lol).

I was also thinking about getting a keepall but then I started to think that.. I don't really like to carry heavy bag around the airport (the bigger the bag it means more stuff to put there), SO! I decided that if I ever buy lv luggage as a carryon, I would buy speedy 35 where I can put my laptop and it's not that pricey or large :smile1:

i think you should buy it, but keep in mind that there is a possibility it make get thrown away/damaged. i would buy 3 keepalls in this case for traveling. (baggage handlers noticing its a LV luggage they may throw it around even more, lol) imo

I LOVE the luggage range ... you can get pieces bubble wrapped for protection and security at the airport ... unless you want to be seen ... but you should be buying for yourself ... and they're awesome for classy "display" storage at home so you can always smile at it :)
