Is LV Luggage worth $2500? Trying to decide whether to buy...

I love LV luggage, but can never justify the amount. It is too risky for me, personally, and I would be too worried about damage/theft, etc. to really enjoy the luggage. Like others, I think the money would be better spent on other LV merchandise that you will get more use out of and not have to worry about nearly as much.

ive seen the new luggage and the new covers they have for it. they are sturdy, weatherproof and almost like luggage themselves. i was in LV yesterday and we were talking about the major theft that occurs at airports with luggage and the way they throw it around, but with the new covers, you wouldn't KNOW unless you KNEW! go for it

I would never check in such expensive luggage because of fear of theft/damage/loss in transit.

I have also heard horror stories about bags being damaged whilst being x-rayed in airports too.

I would, personally, put the money to something else. Although this is my overly just-incase attitude towards most things.

maybe u can get a carryall or the smaller keepall to satisfy your craving. and spend the rest of the money on a bag. and you don't have to check those in.

i agree with everyone else. As much as i don't baby my bag that much, i don't want to be worrying about the treatment my luggage might get while i'm on the plane!

Thats my concern, is that there will always be a chance I may have to check the luggage in. SOme of those tiny planes won't fit the larger size suitcase. :-(

I don't roadtrip enough to justify the cost, so I suspect getting a bag would be a better investment.

I would get an alma gm or maybe more softsides large luggage cases like the keepall because you dont want to spend all that on luggage thats gona be damaged and thrown around carelessly and in filthy places..you better off spending it on luxurious purses you can enjoy on a daily basis =)

If you worry that much do not get it. if you'll burst out in tears because someone puts a dirty bag next to it in the carryon bin then it is not for you.

That said I have a Damier Keepall w strap 55 and I wish I would have bought one with wheels.

No, its not worth it, IMO! Unless you're a celebrity and have more money than you know what to do with  Get a Keepall if you really want some "luggage" but definately a handbag is a much better investment. Good luck!

As much as I love LV luggage, personally I wouldn't buy one (unless, of course, I suddenly won the mega lotto :p). They're gorgeous and the quintessential classic LV, but I just feel like it's so much to pay for something that I wouldnt use a whole lot. But, I would love, and do plan, to buy a Keepall 45 for overnight trips or as a carryon. Maybe you could get a Keepall and then a new bag?

I obssessed over the Damier Pegase 60 and bought it a few years ago when I travelled to Europe; thus I didn't pay full price due to the exchange rate and VAT tax refund. I don't fret when I use the Pegase since it's luggage & built for travel.

I did the first time I used it since I returned to the US the first few days TSA was imposing their 'no liquids' rule so there was A LOT of confusion and I had to check my Pegase since we were only allowed a purse as carryon. I was more worried (actually frantic) about the items inside the Pegase since I was carrying special items I'd bought! My Pegase has also been checked while boarding due to no space on the smaller airplanes. My Pegase has been on the bottom of a bus also. She is doing fine.
