Is LV Luggage worth $2500? Trying to decide whether to buy...

I agree with the above, I would never buy the luggage because even if it's gorgeous the chances that it gets stolen or damaged are huge! You would use a handbag way more often and could buy lots of other nice things or even travel a little with the amount of money you would spend on a piece of luggage that will get thrown around like it's a cheap potato sack.

I personally don't think it's worth it, because I wouldn't be able to replace it if the airline messed it up. Also, I don't travel more than a few times a year, so depending on how often you travel you might get to enjoy it more. I say buy a handbag or a wallet.

How long have you had yours? Has it been holding up well? Most of my luggage (non name brand) has held up for years..but I've had the occasional zipper pull ripped off or wheels.

I have no intentions on checking...but those who travel know it does happen ....

I obssessed over the Damier Pegase 60 and bought it a few years ago when I travelled to Europe; thus I didn't pay full price due to the exchange rate and VAT tax refund. I don't fret when I use the Pegase since it's luggage & built for travel.

I did the first time I used it since I returned to the US the first few days TSA was imposing their 'no liquids' rule so there was A LOT of confusion and I had to check my Pegase since we were only allowed a purse as carryon. I was more worried (actually frantic) about the items inside the Pegase since I was carrying special items I'd bought! My Pegase has also been checked while boarding due to no space on the smaller airplanes. My Pegase has been on the bottom of a bus also. She is doing fine.

I bought the Pegase in 2005 and it looks beautiful. I'll try to take a photo the next few days. There is one black mark on the bag, but it doesn't bother me. It's luggage, and I'm going to use every LV I have. I take care of my LV, but don't baby them. Once, the Pegase was dirty from being under the bus with other bags, I wiped it down and the bag was fine.

last summer I saw with my OWN eyes how they ditched all of the bags into the plane. It had to stop somewhere before it's actual landing and I saw it. I honestly could not believe my eyes. they literlly THROW with them like they're pillows. I got so mad when I saw mine being thrown with, it broke too. I say, don't buy it.

I have Tumi and Samsonite luggage. Both are durable and have great warranties. Also, Tumi has a recovery program in case your luggage is lost or stolen. You can't get more info about it on their website.

I personally wouldn't spend that much money on luggage. When I travel my luggage gets wicked dirty and abused.

What about an eole? I have a Damier Eole 50. Works great as a carry on and I don't worry about it. It's under 2K and it still looks great.

YES, it is worth it! I was just looking at some luggage in the boutique a few weeks ago, and it was gorgeous. I too was considering purchasing. Sadly, I don't like the way baggage handlers, or attendants treat the luggage, so I wouldn't do it.

I am considering it the eole 50 I really want that in the luggage. But, the more I think the more I can't decide. I'd love to have it, the canvas generally cleans up pretty well, my concern is just some one damaging it.

Its one of those things I feel like going all or nothing. Go for luggage or nothing.

But now my thoughts are thinking of a great new bag, that would get more use. But my other friend who has the LV luggage just loves it. Haha if only I could win the lottery.

i have 2 pieces of LV luggage and you couldnt pay me to check it with an airline, i had 1 suitcase stolen (or lost by the airline) and 1 so broken the airline actually had to duct tape it back together for me to ge it home and they werent even nice looking suitcases so even if by some miracle the airline didnt damage or lose your expensive luggage theres always the chance of someone recognizing a real LV suitcase and taking it...i say go for a large carry on duffel bag or a big purse that you can use in addition to your carry on..good luck!

I agree with everyone. The luggage is way too expensive to be thrown around by careless airport people and put on a conveyer belt at the airport. Get a carry on LV bag that you can keep with you. I think the only way I would buy the luggage is if I was rich,or I won the powerball lottery and had a private jet and my LV luggage was pampered and carried carefully. LOL

I would get a nice ( hand) bag that you can treasure and use. Much as I love the look of LV luggage I've never gotten any as to me it is too precious to get damaged and even carry on bags are hard to look after with other people shoving things on top of them etc.
