Is Longchamp Le Pliage worth the money?

Well I obviously must think they are fab and worth every penny I've spent on my Longchamp obsession. I love the variety of colors, the strength and the lightness. The bags are comfortable to wear and suit my active lifestyle. I also love the 1899 size because I can hold the bag on my lap like a cuddly puppy and it just feels comfy like that.

I get MUCH more bang for the buck with the LP than I ever would with say an LV. I like my LVs, too, but I use the Le Pliage on a much more frequent basis.

Ive been wanting a Longchamp le pliage bag for ages !, But im always doubting on weither i should get one or not ? cause they are quite expensive for what they are. and i swear they are made out of plastic ? i dont know if they are but i was jus wondering if the le pliage is worth the money really ? can you guys tell me what you think please !xx

They are rather pricey, but it is weatherproof, stylish and lightweight. Buy it when Bloomingdales have ther sales. That will save you some money. Which is what I did!

I was resisted them at first but once I got one, my love for them grew even more. Once you dip your toes in, you can't go back. You will soon look into Longchamp's other lines too. You won't regret it.

It's honestly very subjective. Most people will say that it is worth the money, some will say they're not.

Why they are not worth the money:
These are based on the feedback I hear from people I know.

  • It's made of nylon with leather trims - some find it hard to justify $150+ because you can buy full leather bags at that price.
  • The design is too simple.
  • Every one has one, even college students.
  • They fray, and the corners get holes.
  • They're made in China now.
  • There are lots of fake ones out there.
  • Longchamp Le Pliage is overrated.

Why they are worth the money:
These are based on my own experience as a fan of LC Le Pliage bags, as well as accounts from friends and family

  • Durability - with proper care and rotation, they last a long time.
  • Versatile and spacious - they easily transition into your daily bag to your beach bag or travel bag. And there's soooo much space!
  • Can withstand different weathers better - I live in Canada and we have -20C (and below!) winters, and my bags hold up really well without me having to do any special treatment.
  • Waterproof and low-maintenance - you don't have to worry about putting all those conditioners or those sprays. But if you want your bag looking new, you'll have to take the time to clean it, but only every so often. I haven't cleaned mine in 2 years and they still look awesome.
  • Simple, sleek design - steamlined, no decorations or strings that can snag.
  • Range of colors and sizes available, and they have seasonal collections too.
  • Option to customize your own - you can actually customize your own LC and have your monogram in it if you want. Not sure in the US, but I'm sure that the UK online store does.
  • Travels well - all my traveling bags and toiletry bags are Le Pliage.

I'm a Longchamp Le Pliage fan. I have 1 small short handle in Graphite, 1 medium long handle in Taupe, 1 medium Planetes in black, 1 convertible traveling bag in Chocolate, 2 cosmetic cases (one in Black and Grey), and a coin purse in Navy.

They make the best gifts too, as they last a lifetime!

The good thing is, they go on sale, that should help with deciding ;)

You won't regret your purchase :)

I think that one applies to every single brand out there though lol

Really whether something is worth it, truly depends on what people need & want. That is what is great about the variety out there today, on this forum alone there are oodles of things to choose from and the basis of "worth it" are so subjective.

I enjoy my LC because they are light( i just bought my 2nd today) i suffer from extreme shoulder/back and arm pain due to my lifestyle and some days i simply cannot carry the weight of my heavier purses..

They hold my full sized wallet and so many other things, awesome amount of storage in these suckers lol

Yep, agreed, almost all popular labels and styles have fakes. Some fakes are so close to the genuine one, until you start using it and falls apart in like a month :p

Bag choice is indeed highly subjective. I couldn't care less what they say, LC Le Pliage are the true workhorses of my wardrobe ha ha! I can stuff all my winter gear in them, and they still look chic. Crazy amount of space - they seem bottomless!

Of course, how could I forget to mention that they are lightweight!

Cheers to us LC Le Pliage fans ;)

Very well said and absolutely true.

I reside in Singapore where there are a lot of LCs. We see LCs everyday and a lot of imitations too, mostly poorly made ones. I never understood the beauty of LC till I bought one and then I just couldn't stop at one. I also love Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs and over the course of time accumulated diffeent styles of each brand but lately, I find myself losing love for Bal and MJ. Nothing wrong with design nor leather but just that LC is so carefree and easy to use. I do not have to worry about babying them nor how hot/how heavy the rain is, plus the assortment of sizes allows a lot of flexibility. By myself? I will tote the mini SH. With the kid? Change to the MLH. Going on a outing and I need my water bottle? Bring on the LLH. Not to mention the exciting range of colours.

I have just listed all my other bags for sale today and quite content to be with LC. :)

For our Country we definitely need weather proof lol and yep, bottomless like a clowns pocket!:p

That's very courageous!

I've been absolutely spoiled by Longchamp. I love the beauty and elegant design of the Le Pliage. I don't find it boring in the least! (I also love many of the LC leather bags.)

The only negative thing I can say about the LP is that it's so wonderfully light that most of my other bags feel way too heavy now. I've definitely considered finding new homes for my "overweight" handbags.
You're an inspiration!

The other bags had been sitting in my closet for a long time ever since I discovered LC and I really feel sad about neglecting them. I still enjoy looking at them but somehow I am not head over heels over them anymore. Since being with LC and growing older, I realise I just want my bags to be sturdy and practical. The simpler the better. The only bags I use now with pleasure are LC, Bottega Veneta and Marc by Marc Jacobs and I see they fulfill my desire for simplicity and durability. I hope to be able to sell all of them so that I can focus on my favourite brands (for now, haha).

In the past, I once thought it was too simple too but simplicity does transcend time, doesn't it? Look at how we all love our LCs. My hubby surely don't undestand as his co-colleagues (largely female) flock to buy LCs and he sees them everytime at work.

I share the same thought. Everything else feels heavy now. 😁 I urge you to purge too, it's therapeutic!

I have debated this as well. Even my mulberry denim and a few leather totes seem insanely heavy for a bag. I am also even looking at some Mz wallace. LC is just an awesome bag.

I found that many of my designer leather bags were very heavy after carrying Longchamp totes. Last year several of my leather bags and LV that I have not carried in at least a year, found a new home at a well know Consignment boutique here. All 10 of them sold quickly. I enjoy the Longchamp LP carefree style, and light weight.

I know what you mean. Even the LC Honore that I purchased today is so light. I was really amazed. The leather is different from the Cuir but so soft. Even my Mum loved it.
