LV stores in HK never go on sale, so as LV stores around the world. that's what the SA told me. i go to HK every year end and i never got to experience any single cent discount :D although, they are really cheaper compared to my country, the Philippines, and i think a little cheaper too compared to US 'coz of tax free.

I've only heard from a radio progamme, the DJ said he know one BIG BRAND will have a sale once a year, but that is not open sale. The private sale is mainly sell those display items, since those items expose under spot light, so they will sale them in very cheap price (Less than half). He didn't mention that is Louis Vuitton, but everyone know the company policy of LV also not sell the display item to their customers....so....I hope I can find it out....I'm live in HONG KONG.

Wow, I am thinking of a shopping trip to Hong Kong this year, good idea to acquire a LV piece there. Do they have good selection?

I know they recently opened a flagship store in HK and it is huge. I think it is their 4th flaghip in the world. I must surely visit it.

OK I had to call up my friend and she said the LV boutiques themselves can't go under sale, but there are luxury department stores that carry LV that go on sale. They also have one of the largest selection of items and are packed with women from all over Asia.

During the "SALE" months of July and August things go down 15% but in December through January is when things go below 50%.

She also mentioned something about Macau, which I assumed is one shopping area. I asked her if the LV bags were fake, she said no. She bought one took it to the boutique and they authenticated it.

Also depending on the exchange rate, HK can sometimes be cheaper than dutyfree even during regular season.

would you know the name of the "luxury department stores" she's referring to? i've been in and out of HK for the past 10 years and i haven't seen one. LVs are only sold at LV boutiques. second hand and few brandnew LVs are sold at Milan Station, Paris Station, etc.

if those "luxury department stores" really exist, LV boutiques will be out of business then. and i would like to know where they are, might as well buy from those stores that offer discounts :p

^^i thought so too. only LV stores sells them, or the second hand shops

Update!

I talked to my friend and she says there are several. Also, based on her description it sounded like a department store that just sells luxury bags.

Do these exist?

We kind of have communication problems sometimes because she's not really good at English and I'm not really good at Korean, and I think the word for department store in Korean is not exactly translated to "department store" as we know it.

Maybe she's talking about large stores?

I dunno, but she reassured me many times that they are real and cheap.

Sorry if I'm not of much help. :shame: I tried to get as much info out of her as I could

There aren't any department stores that sell LV. There are a lot of second hand stores and they go on sale, but I'm sure LV does not go on sale in Hong Kong. Luxury goods go on sale at the end of the season and most of the time it's a really good deal. I'm from Hong Kong but I go to school in the States, I love going back home during the summer and for Christmas coz everything (other than LV) is on sale. During both seasons the sales goes up to about 50% during the end of the sales. And another thing is that Japan has a high tax on luxury goods, that's why whenever they travel they buy a lot of luxury goods, they love coming to Hong Kong coz it's tax free.

i agree! whenever i go to LV stores in HK, every end of the year or 1st week of January, Japanese flock the LV stores there. as if, that store is on sale. sometimes, they have a queue outside, waiting to be allowed to go in the store.
