Is Coach considered a luxury brand?

She wouldn't buy Coach bags at full price. Meaning she never bought them at all.
In years gone by, she used to buy LV. Ended up with a cupboard full!
Now she's grown up a bit more, and no longer buys expensive status symbol bags.
Just the occasional Hello Kitty bag. Around the USD 50 to 200 range. Much better!

Just out of curiosity, what did your wife do with the cupboard full of LV's that she bought when she wasn't quite yet "grown up"?? I would think they'd be worth a small fortune if she took good care of them.

Most are still there in good condition, a few were given away, some smaller ones got dry & cracked and she threw them out. Now at least they are in a manageable pile and don't tumble out of the cupboard when I open it...I remember I was pretty annoyed...so much money down the drain! She still won't sell them though. Strangely, she dosen't carry luxury bags much anymore since she changed jobs a few years back. We haven't been into a bag shop for over a year. The people you spend time with really do change you.

When we walk into a Coach boutique, they always have beautiful bags. But they are in the wrong price range: at 800-1000 Singapore dollars for a leather bag, its too much for a frivolous buy. And if we're going to an expensive bag, better to save up a few thousand and get a 'real' one.

LOL! I can assure you that Coach boutiques do carry 'real' bags. And bags don't have to be "frivolous" buys. Many people save up and give a lot of thought to their purchases and keep them for many years, therefore getting their money's worth out of their bags. I'm sorry that your wife wasted all of that $$ on bags she didn't use/want.
Sounds like (hopefully) she's in a better situation now as far as knowing what she wants.

So where do you keep your cups and dishes, if not in the cupboard?

Black_Cat lives in Asia so hence the different use of the word "cupboard". To me I think he just meant a closed shelf unit......if you look under his avatar you will see "My Website"....click on that and you will see his theories re: Coach as a brand.
To each their own. We all have different life experiences that impact our choices and that's just fine and dandy!

You had me curious so i went and read his site, definitely things we have all said here (actually Literately since he's Quoted a number from TPF) but at the same token they are not the only brand who does this factory and boutique thing, i prefer boutique bags but i am coming to learn(by perusing the secondary market) many bags are actually MFF and most either don't know and/or don't care.

For here were massively in depth on bags, but we are not typical, as most of us already know. I have no clue what will become of Coach as they try this new avenue, i know i personally am not a fan, i prefer classic type things and i do agree their lack of a staple.. go too is not helpful as he pointed out... truth be told i find it all rather exhausting, i am just buying what i like when i want too and have pretty much given up worrying beyond that. ;)

After reading Black_Cat post, I had a range of emotions (some were bad I admit) but overall it just made me sad.

I enjoy reading all the posts in these forums, it's obvious most individuals enjoy and have a passion for their handbags from their LV to whatever is their fancy. It does bother me though when people come here and seem to "bash" a brand (any brand).

I have so much more I could say but I won't. Simply I'll stick to: you love a handbag, get it, regardless of what others say, that handbag is special to you and nobody else.

I moved away from the Coach brand for many, many years after being introduced to it when I was younger (like many of you here). They just kind of fell off the radar for me as did most handbag brands, I just didn't care about what bag I carried for a long time.
Forward to today and I DO care what bag I carry but not to the point of obsession, I just like a certain silhouette and style of bag and I don't need a ton of them.

For the most part I feel many of Coach's newer designs are too flashy (just talking about myself and my style here, not bashing anyone else's choices). I like simple and classic with a twist and I also love bags without a ton of branding (my Speedy 25 obviously being the exception because of it's light weight).

Personally I'd love to see Coach figure out a way to add a coated canvas into their collection without the CC's that we've all seen for so long but maybe something different and unique. I know they are a leatherware company and would obviously still do leather predominately but how fun would it be to have some lighter weight canvas coated bags?

I also agree that Coach really needs to keep more classics in their line instead of moving them on too soon as they like to do. They are too much "all over the board" with their designs. JMO

To each his (or her) own. Enjoy your hello kitty bags!

I respect that we all have different life experiences and that IS fine and dandy....having said that, I would suggest that if someone posts content on here that may antagonize the other posters or come across as unfriendly, they should, BEFORE they post, maybe be sensitive to colloquial or cultural differences that could be misinterpreted.

I think you've summed it up nicely! On an open forum like tPF, each of us posters have different ways of expressing ourselves on here. Some individuals seem to communicate their messages more efficiently than others. I have more to say also, but I'm practicing "wise speech", lol.

My opinion too, pretty much exactly with one other detail. They are way to overboard with the 'decorations' for my taste. I love studs and fringe and such, but in moderation.
