Seriously!? That is stupid! I bought a WOC back in 2009 for $1750, which was ridiculous back then, but $3K is just insulting.

I'm soooo priced out of Chanel to the point of caring any more.
I was in Chicago a couple of years ago and the SA at Saks was telling me to buy it before the increase. At that time it was $2200 and sure enough a couple of weeks later it went to $2500. Now it’s $2800 and looks like it’s going to $3000 this Friday. I wasn’t interested in dropping that kind of cash on it at all. We are talking about a WOC! However, you know people are going to buy regardless!
They are getting ridiculous with their prices but they still have so much demand. I don’t see that changing
A chanel classic flap in black caviar leather and a medium boy bag were two of my holy grail bags. At the price they are now its just not worth it. The quality is not there to make it worth that cost. I know everyone seems to think their bags are investments but 1 there is a ceiling and 2 I use my bags. I am careful with them but I use them. I am not buying a bag to get money out of it later. Though I do appreciate being able to sell something at a later date and get some money back that is not my initial goal. Honestly, with the way Chanel are increaasing their prices I lose more and more interest.
I don't get it. For those prices, a buyer could get something will great quality and lasting value. Those interlocking C's are mesmerizing, I guess. I gave up on Chanel years ago.
But in general my shopping was up fairly significantly. I am trying to limit myself in 2021 but I do find I use shopping as a comfort. I need to find other comforts!!
I mean do we ever anticipate it stopping. I bought a medium boy and a fashion bag from Chanel. I wanted a classic black flap but I am so annoyed with their pricing- I am thinking its not going to happen. I too like to use my bags- resale is just a great bonus.
Let me know what you find because the only thing I can seem to comfort myself with is more stuff!
I don't foresee them stopping price increases any time in the near future. But the quality just does not match the price. I am not a fan of Hermes bags- just not my taste- but at least they have the quality and craftsmanship to back up their price.
Haha I will let you know. I have been trying to meditate daily with my Peloton app, but right now I am obsessing over some of the bags in the Versace ss21 collection
I am now looking at YSL as an option. Beautiful bags which are nowhere close to Chanel prices.
I LOVE YSL. I got a gorgeous new medium Sunset bag in green moc croc leather at the end of November. It makes my heart shine!

Oh I know what you mean. But for me it's beyond reasonability/cost per wear/resale etc etc etc. Resales are no better. Personally even if people deem vintages more desirably crafted at this point, I think it's also unreasonable for vintage bags to be 5-6k USD. Plus with our Canadian dollar that just becomes absurd. Maybe I'll luck out one day. But at this price point I would feel like it would be "buy to look because it's too precious". But this is my personal financial situation and everyone's wallet's different.
