I understand where you are coming from. I admire bags more than I buy just because lately I really only carry small wallets around. For awhile I was barely on PB and got off tPF. During the last third of 2020, I've looked at bags a LOT more than I have in the past several years...i'm back on tPF...you get the idea. I haven't gone as far as to start buying a lot, but I do think COVID boredom/anxiety/etc. has turned me more to immersing myself in anything that can entertain/distract me. During the Christmas shopping period with all the sales, I found myself buying SO MUCH for myself - makeup, skincare, household appliances, etc. - and EVEN MORE for others...it definitely felt a bit reckless or like I was losing the self-control I had previously.
Anyway, I vowed to myself that I'd scale back in 2021. I'm likely going to return the Clare V backpack I bought (unfortunately) because I'm being honest with myself and admitting that it's too small. I already sold the Telfar I bought in mid-2020. No more buying household appliances, besides a hand mixer, maybe. And I've already made a mental note of the makeup & jewelry I'm looking at and trying hard to not add to the list for now. (The only thing I'm good at is not buying clothes!)
Anyways this is a long way of saying that I believe what you're experiencing is more common than not. We're all finding various outlets (healthy or less so) to help us get thru the ongoing pandemic / general unrest. That coupled with the pressure of price increases is a reasonable combo that leads one to buying more! Don't be hard on yourself, it's totally understandable.
That said, maybe make a list of what you truly need vs. want and let that guide you in 2021. Specifically for Chanel...the prices are SO HIGH already...if it's a bag you really, really want, you'll probably find a way to cover the extra few hundred dollars regardless.
Good luck!
