..Noticed a thread talking about wallets maybe changing with the direction of less cash being used, what do you all think?

I think it's somewhat logical they may alter the overall designs with the trend of using less cash. It is accepted here as it's legal tender but most places highly discourage the use of it.

Hi Ladies, hope you are all doing well. We're good at home, going through a tiny heat wave and it's so uncomfortable. But I'm hiding out at home, sitting downstairs where it's quite cool until late afternoon. The garden is very dry and we had a lightning storm last night.

Nothing new on the bag front except I bought one of those clear large signature cosmetic bags from the FOS. It's a nice, heavy plastic with a little handle on the zipper. I bought it because we were away for a few days and I'd wished for something to hold all my sunscreen products. So I ordered it and it just came today. I like it a lot. Makes me tempted to get the matching tote bag! :P Only if it really goes on sale.

It's quite roomy and I can fit a lot in here. I'll have to lay the bottles down but just wanted to give you an idea.

My DH used to tease me about using cash for everything — I used to be annoyed with places that didn’t accept cash. It took a pandemic to finally get me to stop using cash. I haven’t seen the thread about wallet changes to accommodate this new trend. I use compact wallets anyways so luckily, it’s not a problem for me (meaning I don’t have an excuse to buy new wallets ).

Hi ML — good to see you :). Glad you had a nice get-away and are now doing well at home during this last part of your summer. We are also going through a heat wave (90-100 for us here). Yesterday morning, we had a major thunderstorm that a local paper referred to as a “once in a decade event”. It was so loud (reminded me of the lightning bending scenes from Avatar: The Last Airbender), lasted quite awhile and I almost felt its impact on the roof — a bit scary :(.

Thanks for sharing pics of your new cosmetic pouch — I love it (you should definitely get the tote too ). I have been interested in getting a clear bag for a long time but never felt totally comfortable with the idea of having my wallet etc exposed. But I think a clear cosmetic bag is doable for me.

Hi Iam, oh my, your temperatures are much higher than here on the coast. I guess it's hot for us and most people are escaping to the beach. But I'm trying to keep my bubble small and not go out unnecessarily. I can't imagine a huge thunderstorm. I don't like lightning, I never have. I would have been scared.

I really like the big cosmetic pouch. I thought it would be handy for travel (if we ever travel again) when you want to quickly see where your things are. I feel the same way about the tote - wouldn't want my wallet and personal items exposed. But it would look cute with a fun beach towel, my Swell mini water bottle and some pretty flip flops. It would be awesome to lead the pool life!

Oh, I didn’t realize or forgot you have S’well bottles too. I have a few—would like to buy more in various pretty new designs but unlike purses/SLGs , can’t justify having more than one of each practical size

Cute! I keep seeing this on FOS and wondered what others thought of the quality. Glad to hear you love it! This would be great to tote around some products for beach time.

I just have one S’well, it’s the smallest one. I find even it gets heavy so the bigger sizes are not for me. I wanted one to fit in my handbag so this works out pretty well. I try not to collect this kind of thing.

I’ve been enjoying our reduced amount of “stuff” since starting
my KondoMari which is still on-going.

We’ve finished clothing and books. Now it’s Paper. We’ve made really good inroads into the kids’ school keepsakes. We’re going from five bins to three so that’s been great for opening up storage. The garage and garden shed are finished, too. We just sold some small furniture.

Although this sounds like we have a lot, we actually did not and now with extra things moved along, the house seems very light. I am going to continue for another two weeks then stop to get my classroom ready.

Tell me more about these water bottles... not familiar with them.

They keep your cold water cold (for 24 hrs) and hot water hot (for 12 hours). Once, I did a test of how cold it kept my water — it did a very good job of keeping it cold although near the end of the 24 hr, it was not quite as cold but cold enough . My Mom inherited one of mine since she likes her water warm — she loves it. Like ML said, they can be heavy depending on the size. They sure come in very pretty designs with new designs coming out all the time (I attached a pic of the one I really like but don’t own). And other cons — not dishwasher safe, can’t be refrigerated and most bottles come with a top that require you to screw/unscrew it although sports caps are available for purchase. I don’t know how they compare to other brands out there like Contigo or HydroFlask

Agree — S’well bottles are heavy but I guess I got used to them .

Great job on your decluttering/cleaning — your whole family seems very dedicated to this. I wish I can say I have made some progress but I haven’t (at all :(). I would like to work on it again at some point.

I didn't know this about these bottles. I knew people on the forum loved them but I didn't know why. Now I have to think if I need something like this. When we go on a trip, even for just a day, we bring an ice chest in the car with water bottles.

I don't think it is going to affect me much. I was already using credit for nearly everything before covid. I only carry cash for those times when they don't take credit. Sometimes I'll use cash if the item I'm getting is cheap. I feel guilty using cash when I'm only spending $5. We used to have a business and we know the store's percentage they pay to the bank is based on their average ticket size, so those small items end up pushing their ticket size down, increasing their rates.

I already moved away from having one wallet for everything. Now I have a card case that has no cash, a coin purse, and a small wallet for store credit cards, cash and coupons.

I'm wondering how things will change when we start using our phones to pay for everything. Then we won't need wallets at all.

I like this! I was tempted when I saw them on FOS but felt they were kind of expensive and I don't really need one. When we travel, DH puts each thing that might leak, like shampoo and shaving lotion, in a separate zip lock bag.
