No traveling for us this year. I’m quite alright with it. We’ll be spending Thanksgiving with the in laws which is nice. No cooking for me hehe. Thanksgiving is not really my favorite. We aren’t big turkey fans, and we really only like the sides. I’ve apparently been nesting on the worst times to do so. I didn’t go too nuts on clothing for the baby. But I did take advantage of the 10-12% cash backs from ****** for the bigger ticket items like the stroller and play yard. But at least I’m not bag shopping?

Glad to hear you are staying in the area — is there rain forecasted for you too this holiday weekend? I also like the sides better than the meat (not a huge fan of meat really, I can do without it).

How fun to be buying cute baby stuff (I forgot that you no longer have any/much baby stuff left).

Ok....I probably know the answer to this but is it weird I'm making my cats, foster cats, and outside ferals Thanksgiving dinner on Friday?

I cook whole chickens for them weekly but my vet will also be dropping off some kitty friendly sides and treats that a vet tech makes. My kids are super excited about it, so I guess that is all that matters lol.
It’s not weird at all! It’s a fun thing to do & the kitties are part of the family, so why not spoil them a bit?

Omg, you are so nice to your cats! Our guy just had a dental cleaning, so he needs soft foods for a few days, so he is getting a little bit better food just because of that (normally he is stuck with dry food most of the day and he eats it but doesn't get excited about it, lol). I bought some of those soft cat treats, and the plan was for them to be for Thanksgiving as a treat, but we needed something soft when he isn't eating wet food--he seemed to really like the treats, but he better not get used to it!

That's such a great idea! Nobody needs to cook or clean up.
This will be fun! One year one of my siblings and I were living in the same town, and we went on a day trip and met up with a couple relatives at an old hotel for a delicious buffet. We had a great time. I hope you have a good time with friends!
Sometimes I have problems multiple quoting! After my dad died a few years ago, we had lost all of our parents, and my stepchildren wanted to stay where they were for the holidays. So DH and I decided to start going to a nice hotel for a spread, and, yes, no prep, cooking, or clean-up! Last year we went to Chicago, and this year we're going to a nice hotel that has a good spread--not too dressy but maybe like business casual? I'm wearing black velvet leggings and a green velvet long shirt. And because it will be in the upper 60s, I am wearing peep toe shoes!

Traveling is tough over any holiday. Look at the weather right now!! DH and I did that for years and just got tired of it. Enjoy!

I don't think this is odd at all knowing how much you love animals. How kind of you!

It's just my mom and me this year, at my place. I don't like turkey, so we'll be having Salmon w/ pineapple salsa. The sides will be: acorn and/or butternut squash (baked ?), roasted rutabagas w/ fresh rosemary, brown & wild rice stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Apple crisp, and banana bread for dessert.
Yum! Sometimes the standard fair for holidays gets old. I don't eat ham or roast beef, so I never liked those meals during any holiday (or ever!).

When I lived in NYC I was always the one coming home to Michigan for Thanksgiving and dealing with planes and travel, etc. It always felt like a lot of work for little reward. My mother never particularly like hosting the meal, but I was glad to see her over that weekend and our ritual was the Black Friday outlet sales. We would drive two hours to the outlet and enjoy the day. When my mother died, no one took over hosting the dinner and now we all just have dinner with our immediate partners and friends.
I don't miss it really. But I do think the tradition is slowly shrinking in significance to many people, not just me.
We did that too! Went to Ohio or Minnesota or other places, and it just became exhausting. No one really has a big family dinner anymore although we would never go to DH's brother's place--too much drama and chaos.

We've got rain! It's pouring!
