Wow that's crazy! You must be exhausted. Even with less to do, the next three weeks are hard. It's never easy to keep little ones occupied. That alone is physically demanding. Hang in the there. You're almost done. :drinks:

We're going on a cruise to Alaska! This is a bucket list check for me. It is quite expensive, though. DH says we need to look at it as a once in a lifetime experience and just enjoy. :coolio:
I'm relaxing now, I already took a nap before dinner! What a busy day! But we are making the sweetest Father's Day projects so it's all worth it.

I would love to go on a cruise to Alaska! You are going to have so much fun! My teaching partner went last summer and she said it was amazing. I think your DH is being very wise. We need to do these special travel things while we have our health. Have a wonderful time! I'm looking forward to seeing a couple of photos. Now, what bags are you thinking of taking?

I'm going to Hawaii this summer, first to Honolulu, then flying over to Maui. It's our 25th wedding anniversary so we're planning a big trip. I haven't been to Honolulu since 1982 so I think I'm in for a big surprise as to how much it has changed! I'm going to take a LeSportSac tote for the beach and a couple of Coach coated canvas bags with me, one satchel and one shoulder bag. They travel well and I don't mind touching them if I've got sunscreen on my hands because they can easily be wiped down. I usually leave my good bags (Coach Leather, LV) at home.

I was shopping today (had a long weekend off work), and was not feeling my little Grace bag. One of those things where you are carrying a bag, and it just doesn't feel right. So I went scouring around Dillard's (I had already checked Macy's and Nordstrom and didn't see anything), and I found some of their Dooney bags on sale. I haven't had a Dooney bag in many years, or maybe I have never had one? lol. But it caught my eye--I like the blue with the brown details, and this particular style of bag the lining is red inside for all colors (I don't know if that is a normal Dooney thing?)--so that is a fun surprise.

And I had a pedicure for only the 2nd time ever, at a spa at the mall (I think the first time was 3-4 years ago). Usually I do it myself, but I have been lazy this summer to get polish on. It was really nice

Lastly, our community had yard sales on Saturday, and we bought a canoe just down the street from us. We have paddleboards, but kind of wanted something more boat like, and we live in a lake community. So we paid for a slip by the water, took it down there, and we are ready to go next weekend if the weather is nicer.

That's a pretty blue! How fun that you got a canoe! You will have a lot of fun in the water.

I am so excited for you about your Alaskan Cruise. It is definitely a once in a lifetime experience to see the glaciers up close (especially worthwhile to see them now since scientists say they are melting at unprecedented rate :(). I went as a teen (eons ago) and it was very memorable. Enjoy :).

Happy 25th Anniversary (a couple months early). Big Congrats on this milestone. I am so excited (so jelly) you are going to HI for your anniversary. You are going to have a fabulous time. I need to give you some restaurant names to visit. I love when we go to two islands (it feels doubly special, lol). Enjoy

Thank you, Iam! Isn't it also your 25th anniversary this year? I think you are I are close together--in August? DH and I are quite excited, he's never been to Honolulu before (and me since the 80s) so I would love to know some restaurant recommendations and anywhere you know of for live music! Thank you so much. Kids are coming for the first part of our trip which will be so fun. They've never been there before either.

It's the first time we've been to two islands in one trip so I'm really looking forward to the flight between Oahu and Maui it should be very pretty . One of the other posters told me about the Kihei Cafe in Maui so we will go there for an amazing breakfast one day. I think you might have seen that in the LV thread? We usually do our own cooking in Maui, but I do love Duke's at the Honua Kai Resort in Ka'anapali. The setting is so pretty and DH appreciate the musicians who play there.

I have probably asked you if you've seen "The Descendants"? It's my favourite movie with Hawaii as its setting.

Thanks! yes, I need to relax and enjoy without thinking so much on the cost. I have been so busy, I haven't even thought of what bag (or bags ) I will carry. I will share pics when I can.

Your trip sounds fabulous! I have never been to Hawaii. I'm sure it will be a wonderful anniversary trip. You reminded me that next year is our 20th. I need to start thinking of where we might go...

Thank you! I am very excited to see it all! We saw glaciers while on a very special trip we took to Chile and Argentina 14 years ago. DH says we'll make this one just as special. I am finally letting myself get excited about this trip.

If you or anyone is familiar with Seattle and Vancouver, I welcome suggestions for hotels and must see places.

Maybe Hawaii?! Our family loves the sun, beach and ocean fun so Hawaii is well suited to us, particularly Maui because it's got some of the most beautiful beaches for swimming, paddle boarding I've ever seen. DH is adamant he wants to be able to actually swim in the ocean so that means a certain temperature for the water. I love the relaxation and peacefulness of Maui. Many of my friends go to Honolulu but I know that would be quite a bit busier than what we want.

I like “The Descendants” too since I am a fan of George Clooney . A sweet movie,

Yep, it is my 25th as well, later this month. I keep jokingly ask DH if we can make it till then, lol. I need to hold off on everything (including any vacation) for awhile to help my folks (I will likely not be home much starting soon ),

We love Maui the best (like you, if I remember correctly). Off the top of my head, my two favorite restaurants are Lahaina Grill and Leoda’s Kitchen. And Sunday brunch at the Grand Wailea. Let me think about it some more and send you a pm if I remember others. So glad to hear the kids will be joining you for the first part. Have a great time,

Oh, we often go to two islands. The only downside is packing up everything for the second leg of the trip (especially if I buy a new bag during the first leg, lol)

How awesome you get to see glaciers again :). It is a special experience.

I'm quite fond of George, too. My other favourite George Clooney movie is Oceans 11. I always have to watch that before we go to Las Vegas. :graucho:

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! Sometimes I wonder where the past 25 years have gone. It's been an amazingly fast passage of time of not only marriage, but careers and children. There's just been a lot that's happened in our lives. I'm sorry to hear about your folks. We are really at a challenging time at our age when we're looking after our own families, plus our parents as they grow older.

Would you say Oahu/Maui is a typical two island holiday for you? I haven't to been to Kauai and that island is definitely on my list. I've heard the most wonderful things about it. Quieter than Maui, but amazing flora there. I'm looking forward to visiting Louis Vuitton everywhere I go on this trip! I've been to the LV in Wailea but I know there's one in Whalers Village so I hope to stop by there this time. I'm sure they've got a big store in Honolulu!

Thank you for all your restaurant recommendations. I'm adding those to my list of places to go to. We will have lots of time in Maui to make our way to all of these lovely places. We've walked around the Grand Wailea but never eaten there. I think I hear a Sunday anniversary brunch calling us!

I haven’t watched all of the Oceans 11 (12, etc) movies. I have seen a little here and there when they are on tv. I remember watching the all female version recently.

Thanks ML for the well wishes . Time flies when married with kids, lol.

I think regarding two island trips, we have done Maui/Oahu more than Maui/Big Island (twice) and Maui/Kauai (1 time). Kauai is really pretty but the island is really small and has less dining/shopping for us. We mainly like to eat well, shop and laid by the pool (no hiking or swimming in the ocean, lol). You would probably love Kauai since you and your family enjoy outdoor activities. On Maui, I have been to both LV shops (but only bought from Wailea). An SA at the Whaler Village said their store has more of the classics whereas Wailea has more runway/special/new pieces (not sure if still true). Oahu has 2 standalone LVs plus a smaller one at the Hilton Hawaiian Village (my recollection from last summer). The LV at the Ala Moana Mall is the bigger one (2 stories). You will have a great time—I am very excited for you.

Cute bag! I’ve never owned a Dooney, but I often browse them. They seem like excellent quality and I love how they use a lot of brown trim.

How fun to have a canoe!
