I keep hearing about this Erica and when I saw the screenshots above I had to look her up.
She's
that Erica. I know of her as Scott Herman's then-girlfriend (now wife). Scott is one of the very few legitimate fitness YouTube instructors who rose to fame before fitness influencers became popular. He really knows his stuff. A few times Erica appeared on Scott's videos to demonstrate workouts, that's where I saw her first.
Erica is from Brazil and some years ago (probably around 2010's) she became a naturalized US citizen. I'm fond of her since she and I are both immigrants who then became citizens of countries we migrated to, and both of us trained as chemical engineers but found ourselves in different, unrelated industries.
I also like her because I've seen how she was like before she became an influencer. She was calm and spoke in a normal way, unlike in her videos where she seems overtly enthusiastic and loud about everything. I'm very sure all of the stuff that annoys people is just part of her act. Sometimes people forget that a lot of influencers embody some type of character (for engagement, mostly), and that outside of their influencing gig they are completely different people.
You can hate her all you want but you're still watching her every upload, driving up her view count. So who's winning here?
