Influencers and Hermes

Well well well… Look who decided to buy a H bag after continuously talking crap about the brand and it’s bags. Always stating she doesn’t like H just the constance she would consider. Hypocrite alert. 🤣

I saw that and a comment calling her out for buying bags after she said she's not buying anymore and Hermes no less.

I’m honestly shocked that Sophie bought a Picotin.I’m just as shocked at the color she chose. It’s so not Sophie like. She seems to be struggling with her content. She claims in one video she’s not spending, next video she’s bought bags. The Picotin purchase is a real head scratcher for me. I figured her Hermes buy would be a B25 or a Constance.

She had a whole video going on about the Constance she tried on in the second hand shop and how that's the only Hermes bag she will ever buy so I'm very confused.
Plus bright orange is not her color at all.

Today, I wanted to write about an interaction that caught my attention—about the subject of influence and influencers.

My personal trainer is a young woman trying to stand on her own in a country that is not her own. For her to afford a Togo leather Birkin 35, she would have to save her entire salary for more than a year without spending a single cent.

Today, she told me how much she admires the Croc Birkin collection of a influencer. She asked how much she would need to save to buy a Croc Birkin.

Maybe because I don’t have a daughter, I don’t know, but influencers have never really been in my area of interest—or rather, my area of concern. But on my way home from the gym today, I kept thinking about this.

And I genuinely felt sad.
Do not feel sad. She just asked a question. It does not mean that she is sad! I grew up with absolutely nothing. Like too sad for this forum to share. I often thought about what I would do if I had $100 to spend! It was an unattainable number. I was overall happy growing up and more money at that time would have improved my quality of life but would not have made me much happier.

Yes! My dream as a child was to shop at the Gap - full price - and not worry about the cost. Now my kids shop at Dior. I was no less happy as a child than they are. And they are not more spoiled than I was. Just different circumstances.

Any chance this was all done as one big coordinated publicity stunt for the ad? Genius marketing team if so.
I think she realized that she cannot monetize on Hermes bags anymore. It brought her views, but most of the viewers could not afford them. From a marketing perspective it's brilliant. She built up this high end classy brand of hers using Hermes bags for image. Now, she sells them all and in their lieu starts buying bags that are way more accessible, and most importantly willing to have brand deals with her.
