More gaslighting complaints. 12 mins in, the SA asks if she used hand sanitizer.

Woah. This is nuts. She's much more gracious than me, I would have just HUNG UP. Who's got the energy for this?

I will say the more I heard the backstory the more I realized there's clearly been an ongoing issue with her SA.

finally a different take on this.

So I don't agree with everything she said, but she made a great point that luxury bags don't make you much more of a target than luxury vehicles or jewelry does. I have heard of people being burglarized for their rugs and artwork before lol.

Honestly now that she mentions it, is a mulberry bag really less flashy than one of the more lowkey hermes bags?

I agree, it sounds like the SA probably is having a horrible day and feelings just compound. Unfortunately, Melinda may be on the receiving end. Additionally, I doubt her SA realizes all these instances over the 9 years, I barely remember stuff that happened last week. Not excusing the behavior, it's just they're both human.

It is interesting there seems to be an overall purge of luxury content, specifically influencers moving away from Hermes, going on on social media (or at least Instagram which is the only platform I really use). Maybe it’s just the rhythm of things, it peaked in interest and now people are turning away?
It’s a reflection of our economy. Times are tough and people want to hear that luxury is dead and that you don’t need materialistic things. It makes the audience feel better about no longer being able to afford these items.

And catering to what the audience wants to hear is a good way to get views :)

One day it’s all Hermès and Chanel, the next it’s Coach/Mulberry for these influencers. My hot take: for many, it was performative from the start. Now that the vibe is shifting—and the economy’s looking shaky—they’re pivoting fast. No one wants to be seen flaunting five-figure bags while people are feeling the squeeze from global uncertainty. I wonder...... how many of them liked the bags/brand to begin with? Does that extend to the regular public? :confused1::biggrin:

I recently discovered Darya Burtseva and will forever thank my YouTube algorithm. She very much has a CBK vibe to her and has such an effortless style and refreshing personality.

This is her latest vlog:

Almost the entire vlog is filmed around Cadogan Square (Hermes address). Apart from Mayfair (round the corner) they didn't go anywhere.

For any that don't know, The Cadogan Hotel was made most famous by Oscar Wilde being arrested there 1895 and gave cover to the infamous Price of Wales' affair with his mistress, actress Lily Langtry. It's also just over the road from Hermes. Every building in London has a thousand stories to tell. Cadogan Square, where Hermes has a store was made even more (in)famous because of a matricide when in 1972, the American socialite Barbara Daly Baekeland (married into the Bakelite fortune) was murdered by her son Antony, who'd had very strange/strained relationship (shared a lover, even shared a bed...).

I always feel it's a real shame that people are not really interested in the places they go to beyond the next handbag and "our favourite bar".

Also, a bit disappointing she didn't wear her new item
a lovely Picotin in Etoupe phw
which would have looked great with some of her outfits. I am sure, as she said, it will fit perfectly with her style.

Pretty sure this type of content is just used to shill for replica/counterfeit poducts. The reason I buy Hermes is because I know that it is handmade in France by trained artisans (not machines, not poorly paid immigrant workers) being paid a livable wage to create a quality product. This story of “it’s the same bag from the same factory the workers just smuggled it out for extra money” is a story I would have fallen for in my early 20s but with the benefit of knowledge and research I know that in reality this IS NOT the case…these bags are made in factories with terrible working conditions and often slave labour, and have links to organised crime. Of course I am not naive enough to think that none of the Hermes supply chain for raw or part finished materials touches China…. But this type of content I find infuriating & I would go so far as to say is deliberately misleading the audience for clicks… 😡

Annoying trend of Influencers and other social media users ridiculing people who buy Hermes and other designer bags, citing Chinese TikTokers claiming some finished products, or materials used in finished products, come from China.

Until influencers get sued by Hermes (or others) for spreading misinformation this will carry on

similar thing is happening over in the VCA forum. its a justification for them to glorify replicas as if its a smart way to save money. although its not saving money when the amount was never intended to be spent.

What’s crazy is that while scrolling through my feed on Instagram it seemed like 1/20 videos was someone talking about this subject… it felt anything but organic. 😵

It almost feels like a targeted attack 💀

What’s funny is that smuggling scenario did occur but it was in France and the artisans for caught. 🤣

I don't believe Melinda has enough prespend to warrant the bags she is asking for.
I don't think the SA's attitude is warranted no matter the pre-spend, more importantly after a 9 year relationship. She mentioned the garden party as never being allotted to her, which is weird since I have been offered garden parties at several stores without any local pre-spend. (I sadly don't have an SA because I keep moving stores). That's just sad, I was under the impression that, at H, relationships are more important than spend because we all spend.
