Influencers and Hermes

It's more general than Hermes, she seems to be actually addressing LVMH and Kering, but she makes good points. What she doesn't perhaps realise is there is a bit more skullduggery involved with the young influencers she's talking about. Some get gifts, particularly when they are paid to go to the big shows, but most 'bagger-braggers' only pretend to be gifted by the brands. Their designer bags are funded by the dupe bags they are really promoting (usually without declaring their sponsorship/partnership/gifts). These, plus Tania, and many of the newly anti-luxury influencers have worked out H/LV/Gucci etc are never going to work with them but dupe companies are.

I am glad that 13-22s are not spending all their money on H and other designer brands. Eva is 100% right, that luxury brands have been seeking to encourage Gen Zs to spend their money on luxury is a 360º put-off, whichever angle you look at it. I haven't bought a single thing from H all year. I love a bit of fun like the next person, but instead of a Bolide on wheels or a mini the size of a toy, why can't we also have a beautiful Bolide in an adult size as a work bag?

Addressing the vid's point that luxury companies only want younger clients, the McKinsey report '24 The State of Fashion' that collated primary research from leaders inside luxury brands predicts that luxury's new target market will be 'Silver Spenders' (over 50s) in 2025. I personally think that traditional demographics are as dated as a dodo. I look forward to luxury companies like Hermes, creating products and marketing towards its existing clients, whatever age they are. They surely have all the data they need for that.
Yes, you’re spot on on so many points and I agree it’s more than Hermès, she’s a fun follow in general. She seems to have fun.

I don’t think I knew that the dupes are buying the branded bags and giving them to the influencers to promote the dupes. I guess I never connected the dots there.

Also, hold on to your hats, Tania is opening the vault and the H inner circle will be released again. 😂 apparently she’s had numerous people with $5000 burning a hole in their pocket and wanting her recycled tips. In her last video that I watched, I felt like we were being trolled with the arm movements. It’s the closed fingertips and big arm swings. Just so distracting and makes her videos look so amateurish.

The brands (say 'Brand X') don't buy the designer goods for the influencers directly but indirectly. They generate the funding for it. The influencers buy them as bait so they can use the unboxing/review/whatever in their title with the sponsorship/partnership/affiliation of 'Brand X' and they're bought for the video, often sold soon after.

What I was trying to say is that the influencers imply he/she/they were gifted the luxury brands to give them kudos by saying "Look what I was just sent by H" (for one example) rather than say it was bought on h.com and sent. Only H makeup is sent through PR, and even then H (through Simply PR) have cut back.

This is why you have such crazy high-low outfits and content, "Come shopping with me in Paris to Hermes and Saint Laurent" with say influencer Ali Andrea: 5 minutes intermittently discussing an ill-fitting Lily Silk blazer whist she discusses FSH and SLP etc. And she's one of the 'classier' ones. It's all an advert for Lily Silk, but that adversarial finances her designer shopping trips - which are also the real bait for her followers. It also seeks to align these mostly made in China brands with European established luxury and heritage companies and experience.

I was confused by the video. She said there’s a rumor that the KP is being discontinued but that rumor is false. So the KP is still in Production right?
Yes it’s still in production! Mini kelly, kelly pochette and kelly cut are produced by the same team. Because of the mini kelly hype they reduced production of the other two bags. But because KPs are trending again, they’re putting a greater focus on it again. So it’s not only not being discontinued, but actually being produced more! Hope this info helps. :amuse:

Just watched Cassie's video. She also says the kelly pochette will be discontinued and b20. Seems like pretty big changes to me? I wonder where she got the intel.
she took the hottest words she could find in H world (hima, b20, k pochette) and combined them with the words that bring most clicks (what?!, discontinued, H production) and layered it over big eyes, big nails and H eye candy. And we all fell for it. The only intel she has is on how to get us to watch the videos. I have to give it to her, it is working.

thank you PT - wonderful insights! I rather like Ali Andrea, she used to be a makeup artist or skincare guru–an excellent one I believe. As I haven't watched any of her videos in years, it is interesting to see how she is now transformed into a luxury influencer. God save us from Lily Silk - their ill fitting clothes are everywhere. Most of the 'influencers' are gifted lily silk and they are happy to promote that and 'bag inserts' to 'protect' the investments. Hermes content attracts a huge audience so there is a lot of influences who know absolutely nothing about Hermes yet somehow manage to churn our Hermes related stories. I find Cassie particularly grinding, those nails look unhygienic.

Ali is still a MUA. I think she's just 'supplemented her income' :D

has anyone seen the footage of famous Influencer Janice Joostena’s shoulder birkin getting stolen while she was changing in a dressing room in London?
Seriously? Stolen when she’s inside her dressing room? Are they the drape changing rooms? That is so crazy thieves are so brazen to come into the dressing room to steal your bag? I can’t even imagine how that happened??!!

Even worse, had an actual door. The theif was ballsy enough to OPEN the door while she was changing!! The footage is posted on her ig if you’re curious.

Seriously??? There’s no locks???

Eta I just watched the clip. And in a VIP CHanging room no less!!!

Man that lady had balls. Imagine what she really could accomplish with courage like that if she channeled it properly. Sad. What a waste of human potential.
