Influencers and Hermes

Staging an offering is so desperate for attention. The fact they need that level of attention is what fuels overspending, debt, returning things later, etc. it really is sad.
Haven’t gotten the chance to watch the video yet but seriously someone brought out a fake bag and pretended to be offered a bag? But security didn’t put the kibosh on it?

As I am not going to actually watch this - can someone please confirm what happened? Is it even possible? Someone actually brought in their own bag at Hermes and pretended they were being ´offered’ the bag?

She said the “influencer’s” friend who wore a scarf (like how SAs wear) put on gloves, Grabbed a Hermes box out of her bergdorf shopping bag and then opened the box and offered her a MK and the influencer was filming everything. Took less than 60s.

No actual footage of that happening but if it was fast enough I think they could do it and leave before getting caught. I wonder if Hermes would request deletion of videos from the phone.

Now, I’ve heard it all. *shaking my head*

now I’m wondering if that was an authentic MK.

One might wonder what is the motivation behind this? Am I pretending to be the‘cool’ girl that gets offers? Am I trying to off load a fake by creating a false narrative ? Or showing how that it can be done and social media is not to be trusted? It does prove though how ‘influencers ‘ are not showing us réalité.

The motivation is money, imo. Bag offers and unboxings get a lot of views, clicks and follows, which translates into a huge payday for the people posting.
I posted earlier in this thread that a "small" influencer I worked for made $20k per post several years ago, because she had her following hooked on her content and refreshing to see updates. A quick search now to get current earnings brought up a video with influencers declaring their earnings and the current figures are jaw-dropping. You don't have to watch the whole video, the opening sequence is of them mentioning their monthly earnings (but I believe there are more detailed mentions further into the video- I have not watched to confirm).

It makes sense that two influencers (or wannabe influencers) would trade favours like this, staging offers for each other to help build their audiences and garner more engagement. This is a billion dollar market.

Edit: I'm watching the video and one woman earned 1 million in 6 weeks (around 13 minute mark).
I should state that I know not everyone on social media can earn these amounts, but I believe the possibility of being such a high-earner through Hermes content is what would motivate someone to fake an MK offer as described in the posts above.
