If you can only get 1 Hermes Kelly bag ever, which one would it be (size, leather, hardware, color combi) and why?

Love how everyone has a different idea of what the perfect Kelly is!

if I planned to have one, and only one, it would be a K28 or K32 (I’m 5’10 for the record), Retourne, in Noir or Etain, Gold Hardware, and Togo or Clemence.

a color that goes with my wardrobe is critical and I wear a lot of black, grey and blue…I’m partial to GHW…and like softer, durable leather. A 25 would be too small for regular use for me, and a 35 would get heavy after a while.

I'd LOVE a B or K in gold, flexible on hardware metals. I'd also be open to etain or etoupe. I know black is popular, but I think H's colors are so beautiful so this is a rare situation where I wouldn't opt for that color.

I just got my Kelly 25 on Valentine Day. Its color is gold, epsom leather, sellier with phw.
It is absolutely stunning, but maybe not suitable use as an everyday bag since it is such a structured bag. I think it is perfect for dating and party. Highly recommend.

Play around with it with fun colored straps. It will look more casual. Also the phw helps to make it look more casual.

Were I to only have one Kelly, ever, it would be a sellier 35 in Noisette boxcalf with gold hardware and single-ring handle construction (which is currently my favorite).

Were I to only buy one Kelly ever, then it would be a sellier 35 in Vert d'Eau matte crocodile with a Mauve Sylvestre chèvre interior and palladium hardware... and single-ring construction.

EDIT: Having read post #1, I would recommend a neutral in either 28 (if you prefer smaller bags) or 32 (if you prefer larger bags), sellier or retourne to taste. Of course, you could also go 25 or 25, but I find 28 and 32 to be the best starting points for small and medium/large bag lovers, respectively.

Definitely K28 and I can bring it to work & shopping with no problem. Doesn’t look too formal.

Since it is sheer fantasy to think you’ll only ever have one H bag, I’ll give you an answer for my 1 fantasy K. Either black silk in a size between 25 and 28 with an exterior pocket for theater programs and gloves, with guilloche PHW. And the petite lock has little diamond sprinkles scattered across like the cape cod watch.

Or, something smashing like a big 35 sellier in pure white box, GHW, with a slightly wider tapered padded strap for comfort, that echos the shape of the handle.

Realistically, buy your first bag to suit your wardrobe, climate, lifestyle and color preferences. Something that makes your heart skip a beat is the only practical purchase.

Don't know if I can afford more than one Kelly so I need to maximise the investment and chose a versatile one that I'll be able to use from day to night? running errand or to more formal occasions
So I'll go for a K28 retourne in GHW, swift, in a neutral grey (asphalte, tourterelle, etain, étoupe). In the meantime it's such a statement bag in a colorful shade so why not bright blue like bleu de France

I’m 5’2, medium frame with broad shoulders, definitely not petite, and a 32 sellier box kelly is big on my frame. I don’t use it as much as 25K epsom or 28 box, but I love it. Cross posted from 28K or bolide 27 thread. Last pic is 28 sellier box K

note: many of us start by thinking we will only have one K or one B, but like @Etriers and others point out, this is only your first one

If the idea would be just to own one K, I would opt for a black K28 retourne with GHW: Small enough to go from day to evening and to be worn on the shoulder or even crossbody (with a longer strap). A good balance between casual (retourne) and dressy (GHW). Perfect size because it fits quite a bit but still small enough to look chic.

When it comes to choosing just one B, the choice would be more difficult for me... probably a B30 as this size seems to look good on most heights/body types and holds a lot of items. Maybe a neutral color such as Gris T, Etoupe or Etain (color and HW depending on your wardrobe preferences and climate) OR a pop of color that still works with pretty much everything in your wardrobe.

However, I must also agree with previous replies here, it is v e r y difficult to stay strong and limit yourself to just one H bag. They are all so fab!

I wear a sellier for everyday though I do have one retourne (below 25K epsom sellier; 28K box retourne with shorts and with t shirt and skirt; JPG fringe Bleu Obscure shoulder Kelly; 28 box sellier. There are many threads on how to wear a kelly casually
