If you can only get 1 Hermes Kelly bag ever, which one would it be (size, leather, hardware, color combi) and why?

If we’re talking one fantasy Kelly it would be a K28 retourne, noir Clemence with palladium hardware and an adjustable strap!! Could be long enough to cross body without a handle under a boob situation and short enough to not hang half way down my thigh on my short 5’2” frame. Big enough for a day out, small enough for a handheld evening (dinner in a smart restaurant maybe, not formal evening wear!).

If we are in fantasy kelly land which is the best place to be then for me it is a vintage fauve croc or alligator 28 retourne with contrast stitching would not be mad at either PHW or GHW.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Hermes and would like to get your honest opinions on my very first Kelly bag. I'm only planning to get 1 Kelly but I cannot decide which one to get! What do you think?

Have you decided? My most useful bag is my 32 retourner in black, but my favourite is my black mini Kelly - not everyone likes black bags, but find them super versatile. They are easy going, low maintenance and mostly look very smart.

My most used bag is a Kelly 28 retourne, beige de Weimar evercolor PHW.

I think any Kelly 25 or 28 retourne in a neutral color is a good option. For everyday I personally find 25 too small, but it depends on how much you carry with you.

I want and deeply desire..and NEED
a vintage retourne BBK 35 nicely softened and slightly battered but not trashed.(ie: not Olsen twins trashed)
Having tried exactly this at an auction viewing a couple of weeks ago and fallen in love (even two other ladies there stopped and stared and told me how well the bag suited my style) but missed out due to it going for way more than it was worth
Now I'm obsessed!
THIS is the only Kelly bag i truly want as it felt so much 'cooler' than a box fresh new from boutique one
I am a woman who prefers to re-home animals than buy puppies and kittens, and I love the idea of having a classic forever bag that looks as if it has a story to tell and a life well lived.

I only have one Kelly so far (Black Box K32, GHW, Retourne). While I love the elegance of Box leather in hindsight I would have chosen Togo or Clemence instead as it can be rained on without a problem. Every other spec I would keep the same.

if required to choose one only it’s hands down k28, Etain sellier epsom. Remove the strap, use no decoration, it can be quite formal with a dress. Put on a colorful strap, a Twilly, a rodeo - it’s playful. The Etain color goes with anything. The structured sellier style holds its shape for years and years. Epsom leather resists rain, in sellier style the corners are fairly protected, it does not stretch or sag. It is lightweight. K28 is large enough to travel with and small enough not to be bulky. True love

Thank you all for sharing your dream/favorite Kelly bag specs! I am still debating between K25 or K28 sellier.. I prefer the structured look of a sellier and I feel like K28 might be more practical for everyday use as it can hold more things, but I'm worried that K28 sellier might look too bulky/big on me and it will not be as easy to open/close as compared to retourne so I'm still torn.

Great to know the size 32 is still pretty popular. Happy to know i don;t have to get rid of my 32s in favor of smaller bags trending lately.

Currently i haven’t been carrying a lot - just my big ass phone (Z fold 3), card cases, nylon cash pouch & reading glasses.

So my pick is K25 retourne togo gold hardware in a neutral color - etain, vert de gris (still waiting), etc.

I also want a K28 retourne ghw in anemone togo.

I’ll go for a color that’s not black but doesn’t easily get dirty.

The other stuff like tissues, umbrella, folding fan - I carry in a separate cheap nylon folding bag. I think the K25 can fit these too though.

I used to carry everything but the kitchen sink with my 32s. Now thanks to my age (55) my shoulder strains easily.
