Mea cupla, mea culpa!!! I just noticed a big typo in my first post!!! I really meant to say that the hardware was 90 percent silver with a two coats of sealant, but I just noticed that I typed 99%!!!!!! I'm so sorry!!! It's 90 percent pure silver over brass, so it will take forever to tarnish, as my other 15-year old bag still has shiney beautiful hardware. Sorry, again! Going on vacation and putting together all the loose ends right now!!!

Hmmm I was just in their website and it doesn't look like the hardware is made of pure silver. :confused1: From their website:

Silver Hardware: Silver ornaments are cast in solid brass or zinc, then lavishly dipped in pure silver. Since silver has a natural tendency to tarnish (oxidize) and scratch, we add a protective layer of lacquer to assist in retarding this typical occurrence.
Cleaning suggestions: To clean your silver ornaments, simply buff with a clean soft cloth. Never use any silver cleaners, jewelry cleaners, or chemicals (this includes jewelry cloths treated with chemical solutions).

From what I understand, the hardware on the bags is not sterling, but I did read that their rings are. I wear a Brighton ring as a thumb ring. The hardware on the bags and also on the sunglasses that I have does not tarnish, chip or discolor. Whatever they use, it must be very high quality because it seems to hold up beautifully.

Wow! I didn't know any of this stuff about Brighton bags. Good info. Thanks for sharing! I'll make sure to go in their store next time instead of just walking by as I normally do.

thanks for posting pics, they are cute bags!

i looked online, and apparently they are made in China now. You can get them on QVC too, they have that flower coin purse. too.

I have only had an issue with one of their wallets. The buckle tarnished and I did know you could not polish it ,and of course I took a polishing cloth to it and proceeded to turn it darker. It bothered me so much I gave it away. The leather on it was still brand new. It happened while it was stored for the summer. I have other wallets , a purse ,watch, and some jewelry from them that are beautiful and are in great shape.

Thanks for posting this! I love the look of the hardware also. I'll definitely have to look at Brighton the next time I need to purchase gifts, since several of my family members love the style of Brighton.

I've always been a fan of Brighton. Not everyone is, but I just want to share some things that I have learned today about Brighton. I just bought a new Brighton bag from a local boutique. The owner of this boutique was invited last summer to visit the Brighton headquarters where he got to tour their facilities.

First of all, the bags are entirely made in the United States of America. They are hand stitched (as he watched the people do it), and assembled right here in the good old USA in California. All of the hardware is 99 percent pure silver with two coats of a clear sealant to protect the silver from tarnishing. Plus, I am a hardware junkie and if you never saw Brighton hardware, it is absolutely beautiful! The leather comes mostly from Argentina and it is Grade A perfect leather. Their pebbled leathers are tumbled with thousands of foam "bricks" until the leather is beat into the utmost softness and suppleness.

Some of us have had Customer Service concerns from one designer or another, and not all of them turn out to be a big plus on the side of the consumer. Not so with Brighton. When you buy a Brighton bag, or wallet or whatever accessory is out there, you get to register it. This entitles you to five years of complete customer service on all parts of their bags without question. And, you can deal with any Brighton store anywhere. You don't have to go back to the place you bought the bag. Just contact Brighton with your registration number and they will be happy to help you.

Another wonderful thing is that you will get a surprise gift in the mail after your bag is registered. I got a coin purse that had a $50 price tag on it when I purchased a bag about 6 years ago.

The bags are not $1000, or $750 or $500. They are in the $300 range or slightly below. The lining is beautiful and attractive. The bag comes with a substantial dust bag in a brushed cotton flannel that rivals my other dust bags.

I just wanted everyone to know that there actually is a company out there that has quality workmanship, great customer service, and whose products are all made in the USA, which I think is important with this economy.

I love it!
Their bags are made in China now. The leather plaque inside the purse says this.
