Thanks for the info! There is a shop near me that sells Brighton bags, but I never really paid much attention to them. Now that I know more I will have to go back and check them out!

Hmmm I was just in their website and it doesn't look like the hardware is made of pure silver. :confused1: From their website:

Silver Hardware: Silver ornaments are cast in solid brass or zinc, then lavishly dipped in pure silver. Since silver has a natural tendency to tarnish (oxidize) and scratch, we add a protective layer of lacquer to assist in retarding this typical occurrence.
Cleaning suggestions: To clean your silver ornaments, simply buff with a clean soft cloth. Never use any silver cleaners, jewelry cleaners, or chemicals (this includes jewelry cloths treated with chemical solutions).

Also, it looks like their warranty is only two years. From their website:

Upon registering your handbag, we will warranty your purchase against workmanship and structure defects for two full years from date of purchase. Brighton reserves the right to exclude any damage caused by negligence and/or normal wear and tear.

My warranty was for five years from my store. I've visited two boutiques in my area who said that the hardware was 90% silver (not sterling) and dipped in two coatings of a clear sealant.

^ Could it be that the SAs are just misinformed about the composition of the hardware? I mean it doesn't make sense that the company would list the details wrong on the website FAQs...

Hmmmmm......I'm not sure if they were misrepresenting anything because they all indicated that it was a "process" that used pure silver that was 90% silver with a laquered sealant. I can only imagine that a bag with that hardware made out of pure silver would cost at least twice the money that it does. The boutique I went to gave me a card with a 5-year guarantee, so I don't know what to say exactly about the website. That is interesting because I never caught that part. In any event, the hardware is gorgeous and it beats base metal. That other bag that I posted above that I have lugged around for about 15 years or so has the most beautiful hardware that still has not tarnished or scratched to this day. I love that part. I'm happy with what I was told and what I received.

Companies change their warranty guidelines often, especially in this financial climate. A two-year warranty on a bag is still a pretty good deal if you use it often.

I have a couple of pieces of Brighton jewelry that I love. Same as with the hardware on the bags, they have not tarnished at all. I'll have to check out their bags.

Good morning! So, here is my Brighton reveal. Kooba lovers will notice right away that it looks a lot like the Elisha. That was another thing that I was going to mention....the fact that the leather on the Brighton surpassed what my opinion was of the Elisha. The bow is a little different and there is pronounced stitching on the Brighton. I wish the pictures did the hardware more justice, but there is beautiful detailing on the back side of the strap hardware, too.

It's beautiful, I love the lining and the hardware!

Linda
