I realized I have not bought a Coach in over a year - anyone else and why?

I'm still buying coach but less than I did before Vevers. I've bought a few Kate Spade bags but quickly gave them away, just not my style. I have now moved on to MK and love the few I have been wearing a lot. I do have 3 NWT that I will probably end up returning though. I still think they are great but I am trying to cut back to only keeping the bags I absolutely love. For example, the moment I opened the box to my black Dakotah this week it was instant love and tag cutting.

I haven't bought much coach either lately. Still love to look at it and think it's pretty but the styles don't work for me. I need longer shoulder strap drops!!! And over the years have found that lightweight hobo and tote styles just work better for me as long as they have the longer strap drop... I love my textured legacy duffle and I have a newer coach zip accordion wallet and other small pouches that I like but otherwise I'll just admire. I've found 2 sellers I love on Etsy that make just the kind of bag I'm looking for, but am hoping this fall coach will have some different and new things that fit my criteria :)

Can you share those etsy sellers?

I agree completely about the longer shoulder drop. Nearly everything these days is a satchel, and when Coach makes a shoulder bag, it barely fits on the shoulder.

I have ordered from Laurel Dasso she does awesome stuff and will do a custom bag. Also I really like Rough and Tumble. Both are awesome.

Oh wow, thanks! Looking at Laurel Dasso's site and she has some great looking bags! I'm about to ask her for a custom order on that large kiss lock bag in black and brown! ❤

Is this the Coach bag you're referring to, whateve? This person is selling it for $45 on Poshmark, and it looks to be in pretty good shape. It's just hard to tell if it's authentic... https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintage-Coach-duffle-bag-55a16e67c5e890666b004fb9
Yes, that is one of the similar styles. I don't know what the seller is talking about. I can't believe the archivist wouldn't have recognized the style or known that the serial number didn't mean anything, since it was made when Coach was using unique serial numbers. I wonder why she is so reluctant to answer any questions about the creed. This appears to be a fairly small bag. Coach made 2 larger sizes at the same time, as well as very similar styles for many years. I believe it is the bag in this ad.

Wow, I am very impressed with your knowledge and research on these vintage bags! I'm who asked about the creed and she posted more photos separately. I just can't tell if the creed reads 398-3692, or 398-3632... something like that. It's quite faded. Here's the link:

Aw, thanks for the compliment! The number looks fine. I've seen other small bags that didn't have a full creed, but it is unusual during the time period this was made. I believe they didn't want to put a full piece of leather that would get in the way of the gathers. Later, they figured out to put the creed on the base, like on this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Red-s...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Here is another one like the one on Poshmark: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-vinta...958?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ee1f5d87e

Sometimes I think we know more about authenticating vintage than the archivist! You could ask Hyacinth to take a look in the Authenticate thread if you'd like another opinion, just to be sure.

I have 4 totes she has made me that I love!!!! 2 color blocked leather, black pebbled leather and a black nylon and leather bag. She is amazing!! If you can dream it up she can make it!

Also I love the rough and tumble 3 in 1 hobo. She made me one with just the clip on shoulder strap and it is great. Such amazing quality of hardware/zippers/leather.

I have high hopes for the hobo we've seen a few pics of for the Coach 2015 fall, I hope it's great

I never bought anything from Coach for over a year, but recently I got a Scarf. About the bag it's not my style anymore, but I still have the white leather clutch that I kept because it's so stunning and beautifully made IMHO. But I did move on to LV and Burberry all the way. But Coach has always a special place in my heart and collection.

Last year it was all about Coach for me. This year I sold away some of my collection and got into Longchamp. My last Coach bag purchase is a Swagger which feels like a long time ago even if it isn't really. O I got Snoopy items but not any bags so it doesn't count. I've been itching to buy Coach again so I just got a Rhyder crossbody. So it feels like I have been pulled away but I will always come back!

I bought a ton (way more than I should have) in the 2013 legacy release but I haven't really liked anything they have released since then. I've moved on to MK, Kate Spade, Longchamp and 1 LV.
