I have two of the original Legacy Ali bags (black and brown) and it is not supposed to have a serious shine like other leathers. The bag in those photos almost looks wet with whatever the previous owner put on it. I don't believe the bag was ever described as "distressed" by Coach-I think that is the owner's way of saying it is somewhat stained and scratched. Perhaps you should get a soft dry cloth and just gently buff away any excess oil you put on the bag. If you have some where you can take it that might be good but I would stop treating it myself. Take it to a shoe maker. They can do wonders and give it a good buffing.

What about using lubriderm lotion, I was told to use this by an Balenciaga SA on their bags. GOOD luck! The wear makes the bag look Vintage.

Lovinmybags.com has wonderful leather care products and while expensive they work miracles. They have a product just for restoring shine to a bag and it works great, I've used it to restore some of my Balenciaga bags.

I would definitely stick with products made specifically for leather so you know there is nothing anti-leather friendly like fragrances, coloring etc. that might do more damage or stain.
