I have to stop. No. Really. Seriously. I have to stop. (rant!)

Ya know, 15 out of 20 of those things, so 75%, are small things. Oh! And 2 of those bags you got super cheap on ebay, for cheaper than a ponytail scarf! It's not like you bought 20 legacy satchels.
It's funny how you don't realize how much you've purchased until you actually think about it. One or two things here or there add up quick!
Don't feel bad, enjoy what you got. Sometimes to slow down, I keep a list of what I want, stare at it for a week and if I still like it, keep it on the list, if not so much, cross it off. I've eliminated so much that way.
(and I didn't think you were braggin :)

I agree with your list idea! I've been keeping my list very small, or trying to, but I can't seem to wait a week. If I want something I have to get it right then. It's that whole instant gratification thing that plagues my generation, I think. At least I haven't had buyer's remorse-- there's only ONE thing I've gotten out of all that stuff that I wanted to return later-- the rest of it I ADORE!

I'm the same way with the instant gratification - let me tell ya. I just don't have the time to get to a Coach store more often than once a weekish, so it works for me. However, if I were a Coach employee.......... WHOLE different story! ;)

I never dreamed being an employee would lead to this. But to be honest, I've only bought things ONCE at the end of my shift. The rest of the times I've come in on days off. The girls think it's hilarious and they always come walk around with me and browse. Even my manager thinks it's great. Today when I came back in after ordering the tote, to pick up the scarf and keyfob, she called me "the poster child for Handbag Addicts Anonymous" or something to that effect. My Fiancee sat down in a seat and hid his face laughing.

Sarah honestly,

Consider what you purchased and how happy your collection makes you feel. Besides, you are getting a great discount.... think what it could've cost you. :wtf:

At least now, you are more aware of what you are spending and possibly you can reward yourself occasionally from here on out. I think having this great new job is like being a kid in a candy store...I would think the "newness" would wear off sometime soon. (hopefully, lol)

Anyway, sorry my post is long, I truly don't think you should beat yourself up....enjoy everything!

I think you're right  Besides I don't have anything that is keeping me up at night dreaming/lusting now that I've got the tortoise, that scarf and the signature stripe tote. I'm hoping I'm good for a while. I've got a couple of things on my wishlist but none of them are like OMG  MUSTHAVE. ....I hope....

I agree with everyone else...you haven't really gone that nuts, in the overall scheme of things. Also, the excitement of working at Coach will probably wear off and you'll calm down a bit. (Okay, maybe not...but whatever).

PLUS, think how much money you're saving by quitting smoking! Instead of buying cigarettes, lighters, etc., you're spending it on healthier things.

i will be the minority and say that if you think you have a problem, get help. there are professionals that can help you change your behavior, so those resources are out there.

if you are just posting these "i need help, please stop me" to just get compliments on your bags, then thats a whole nother story that could be addressed in a different way.

remember there are people who are TRULY suffering from a shopping addiction and end up bankrupt...

Sarah,
If you are truly always broke, then you DO have a problem. You posted because you were concerned. While intentions of others are nice, they don't want you to feel bad. Sometimes WE need to feel bad for decisions we make because they aren't wise.

It's easy to try to justify because we got something for a good price, but if we can't afford that good price, then the good price doesn't matter. That is a lot for a short time period, and from what you are saying, you can't really afford it.

I would encourage you to look at this Coach job and decide if it really is good for you. If you are spending more because of working there, it may not be the best thing even though you love it.

I'm not trying to put you down, but give you advice based on what you've said and what you've asked. If you find you can't control your shopping, that IS a problem, just like any addiction.

I find that if I visit here more often, I'm more tempted to purchase. Maybe in addition to considering if your Coach job is really a good thing for you, you should think about how often you visit this forum. There are lots of enablers here and that isn't always a good thing.

Good luck.

i used to worry too because i'm broke as hell and i have 3 coach bags and 4 pairs of shoes and 1 wristlet and 3 keychains and 2 scarves, but most of those things were from sales!!

I'm of the thought that it doesn't matter if it's from a sale. Being broke as hell isn't a good thing. It doesn't matter how good of a deal something is, if you can't afford it, then you can't afford it.

i d rather be broke and happy then rich and sad.. true story... i m still eating and living.. just dont have money for anything but the necessities+coach... and honestly i think i deserve it! i ve been through a lot these past few years and never treated myself before, and i dont regret it

Well, if confession is good for the soul, then your are on the right path. Part of the reason I joined TPF was because I was completely frustrated and anxious about this purse pursuit. Although I still look to see what's new, fortunately for me, there isn't anything I really want right now. Focus on something else for awhile. And, you can always "pretend" you own all this Coach while your at work!

Sarah, you CONSTANTLY post about how you "need to stop" so my best advice is get off tPF, stop working at coach, and get your life in order.

Maybe you should check out the money section in tPF, sounds like you need some serious help.

And Katrynar, if you think of life in such black and white terms "broke and happy . . . rich and sad" then you are missing SO much, look at things as more fluid and on a continum.

i love coach, but i would NEVER let it jeapordize my finances.

very eloquently put. and i agree.

everyone on tpf loves to see collections and new purchases...but not if someone has a problem (and consequences) from it. yes, we love to enable. and, yes, sometimes we do that too much. but, in the end, it is up to YOU to make the decision. if you think you have a problem, then you probably do. and trust me on this- i blew my entire college savings in less than 6 months because of shopping. it's not worth it. it's not worth the stress just so you can have new things.
