I am sorry you had that experience in Philly.
I think I was lucky in the King of Prussia Mall at LV. However, I have an idea that it has to do with the bag you are carrying at the time. I was in tennis shoes, but I had a good Fendi bag with me. Their prices are so marked up there I wouldn't buy anything anyway!
I have noticed this phenomenon at NM, too.
I have yet to have the guts to enter Versace or Hermes there. That is a pretty uppity mall.
I have always had positive experiences with NM, everytime. NM is right next to LV on level 2. They have a decent purse section. Both the lady in Chanel (she has a distinctive Polish accent) and the bald guy in the Fendi/Dior/Gucci are nice. Also, no problems at the Vera Wang section of the cosmetic counter. The people in Burberry are decent too. Just a little advice for anyone visiting Philadelphia area. Maybe NM has better SA training.

Fendigal-
LV at K of P mall is snobby...I order mine from Saks Nyc LV just so I dont give them my business...
However...NM is always amazing to me.There is a handbag SA at NM named Manny -he is the best SA ever and will know and remember what style bags you like and call you if he sees something for you.If you ever go there-Ask for him-I have another SA at Saks Bala Plaza...in handbags..her name is Donna-She is also the very best SA...I have a firm policy that if a SA is even slightly rude to me...I always stay away from them and only give my business to the nice ones repeatedly...It drives me crazy how snooty some of them act..

Jill,
I think Manny may be the same guy I have delt with at NM. I'll remember Donna's name, I pass by that store 5 days a week on my way to work. Small world! We live in West Chester and my family lives in Narberth.

Too funny! Definately look up Donna in handbags if you stop at Saks-You will amazed how cool she is! She will also let you know how to get Gift cards by ordering a bag on a certain EGC event day...saves you money....!

i once, literally, got kicked out of harry winston when i was in college. the guard shook his head and pointed his finger out the door. i was in disbelief and really upset. my bf who will buy me a 40k+ engagement ring in a few years (we're still in our early twenties) has vowed to never give them his business.
i still get really angry when i think about it.

I'm very sorry for your experience....I hope that she does work on commission because she lost out on a customer (and probably more since word of mouth is very powerful). I hope you have a better experience elsewhere.

The older man I had was soooo nice! He overnighted me my Speedy 40. I forgot to tell him I wanted the box too so I have to go back for it. There's a young guy there too now. I think he's new but I'm not sure. He's really cute, supernice and very helpful. His name is Vinny I think. Reaaaallly young. And cute. Did I say that already? LOL.

I'm sorry too, starkid. Did you complain to the store? What happened?

this may sound really dumb... but i ended up crying on the corner of fifth avenue because i was so upset and dumbfound. i didn't complain because i figured the manager at harry winston could careless about a college nobody getting kicked out. my bf then took me to hstern and bought me a ring (a promise me. not an engagement ring) he was planning on getting at harry winston. we were also treated like crap at hstern unfortunately. i wish i could buy things without having to deal with SAs.

so... nothing happened. and nothing ever will happen at harry winston because i will never support or buy anything from that store.

at times like this i wish i had a voice and totally bring harry winston down.

Well, may LV at King of Prussia is evolving. They certainly have plenty of competition. The last time I was there NM was super busy and they had maybe 3 people. Now they also have Burberry, Hermes, Versace to contend with. They are surrounded!
I still want to check out Saks in Bala after all the positive stuff I am hearing about this Donna girl. Does she work certain days? Also, do they have a good selection or is it mostly ordering.

Oh, I'm so sorry you had a such a bad experience starkid... *hugs* And the customer is definitely not a "nobody"- it is so wrong that they made you feel that way. Maybe you could write a letter to the customer service dept; they may mention it and it could save another from getting the same treatment.

thanks spiralsnowman. perhaps i'll write to them one day... but now, i feel it is too premature. maybe once i graduate from graduate school i will write to them with my title after my name or before i get my engagement ring i'll write to them explaining that i'm going to blow a couple ten thousand dollars at tiffanys because i was treated poorly. a couple ten thousand dollars is pocket change to them, but rubbing the fact that i plan on purchasing a lot of jewlery elsewhere might get their attention and take the matter more seriously.

or maybe i'll just avoid all SAs until i hit my mid thirties. :p

I was looking for my next bag last Friday and because we have really ****ty weather I wasn't dressed up at all. At Bottega, Tods and Theresa (b-bag dealer) they were really pushy intrying to sell me tha bag I looked at. I had my paddy with me so they saw that I can afford a good bag. That's a thing I really hate all of them where pointing out about 10 times that this were the last bags in that style and if I didn't decide fast they would be gone. That's a thing I hate as much as snotty SAs. the only stores with nice and qualified SAs here in Munich are LV and Dior.
