DH is tolerant at best of my handbag, ummm, interests. So we go to a few nonprofit events every year where there are silent auctions. At one, close to my birthday, he seized the moment to get a few of his favorite things all at once ... a gift for me, an additional donation for the nonprofit, and the warm glow of winning. Thus my birthday gift, and the only bag he has ever been brave enough to give me, came from his winning bid for this Ferragamo Mini Fiamma. I had to suppress a laugh when I saw it cause ain't much fittin' in this little guy. If only it were one size up, the small Fiamma, SIGH. Still, DH got many reinforcing hugs and I've worn the bag about four times. Here she is, my perky pink lady with my 7 inch wallet and a pen for size comparison.

But PS, it's a gorgeous bag lined completely in leather, and a golden opportunity to buy a new wallet. Lol.
that's pretty....and so nice that it's lined in leather
I'm not one for small bags but it's good that you're being gracious about it and appreciating his gesture.

My DH wouldn't even try to select a bag for me. He hates shopping and knows it's too personal of a decision. But he give me his opinion (if asked). And he always sprays them with AppleGarde for me. He's also funded some bags with gift money.

Yes. DH got me a gold MK bag for Valentine's Day this year. He went to the store, picked it out all by himself and proudly presented it to me at dinner that night. He was grinning from ear to ear, SO excited and proud of himself.

It's not something I would have picked out myself (too blingy) but I love that dang purse. The intent was for me to take it on our vacation to FL the following week and I did (even though I really missed my Hermes [emoji26]). It has now become my staple vacation/FL bag and everytime I carry it I remember that silly grin on his face. Priceless!!!

ps it also came with matching shoes [emoji23]

Lovely bag!

When we were dating the husband then boyfriend was traveling for work and he called excitedly telling me he saw many straw bags and he knew I wanted a straw bag badly that time. So I said yes please get me one and he said he saw one that was very pretty. Yay.

He came back with a straw bag the size of a laundry basket. He tried it on and said it's lovely but he forgot he's 6 ft and I'm just 5 ft 2 inches and he's got about 25-30 kg on me. Needless to say we decided he will never buy me anything without specific instructions from me.

So I had a very glamourous and expensive laundry basket.

Love all these stories, too!
My DH was dropping off some suits at St. Vincent de Paul thrift store. Let's just say we've both gained a bit of weight. He saw a black bag in their curio cabinet and asked to look at it. My style (handheld plus shoulder), black box leather, beautifully made, cool HW and brand spankin' new with tags. Never heard of this Italian brand, Gianfranco Lotti. Retail $1345. He bought it for $175. A good cause to boot!
Absolutely love it and have used it a lot...............
This bag is stunning! What a find and what a nice DH!

Lol. Glad you 2 came up with a solution from this situation

My husband has never bought me bag because he knows how picky I am (and I'm pretty sure whatever he would get, if he did, would most likely be returned) All of the gifts he has bought me in the past have been less than favorable. He eventually gave up and rarely buys me gifts. And when he does, they are what he would call "practical". For example, I dropped my camera last December and has not functioning properly.

So for my birthday, he bought me a new one. For Christmas, he bought me a squtty potty (lol). The Christmas before, he bought me a scarf hanger (not sure if that's the correct name for it but it holds multiple scarves). He usually spends a small amount on gifts for me compared to the amount I spend on him. But he is only thinking of how "practical" and useful the gift can be... Which usually doesn't cost a lot. Yes it's thoughtful in a way.... But sometimes makes me wonder 'why did you get me that?' :/

I first got into B-bags in 2006, long after the ink city had sold out. I tried to find one but to no avail. DH called the store I had bought my other B-bag in and their buyer happened to be in NYC that week at Balenciaga. She asked about it and they had one left in a crate in the warehouse and he got it for me. Still have it.

it is awfully cute. And your husband is a sweetie :)

i don't like my man selecting purses or anything else female for me. i can buy my own stuff and pick my own stuff, and i find it uber-weird when husbands and boyfriends have an interest or opinion on fashion and handbags. so.. no... he doesn't pick a thing i wear or accessorize with, ever. and his opinion? doesn't sway me or matter, when it comes to anything female or fashion. i have girlfriends to share my handbags with.. i don't want a man for that.
