Got my first Roots bag today, and it's lovely. Very well made and constructed. It's the Horween Side Saddle bag, and my only disappointment is with the colour. It doesn't match what the website shows, at work it was a chestnut brown, at home in the fading light it looks more the website. Hoping it'll darken in time :)

Very nice! I don't have anything in Horween so not sure if it's the type you condition, if so it probably would darken somewhat.

My Roots leather page won't load, so i cannot look it up..

They develop a bit of a patina over time due to the characteristic way the oils move within the hide. As for conditioning, Horween seems to endorse crème sapphire and Roots just recommends their own conditioner.

Ok random question but do you think the grace bag is too old for someone in their early 20s?

I keep going back and forth on the grace bag and the cafe bag. Maybe i'll just get the cafe bag and customize the grace with black stitching although the horween cognac is really nice but i havent seen it in person and not sure if i want a brown bag or not. :\ I'm sorry im horribly indecisive and picky when it comes to bags. I think i'll check out my local flagship store tomorrow after work. I went to one in the mall the other day but they didn't have much.
I think i'll just have to try them both on and see what is better. Oh my god im so annoying. Sorry! lol

Hmm i don't see how, frankly Roots purses in general are far more ageless than some designs...

I see them carried by all ages... i like both the bags you mentioned but am older so perhaps my opinion shouldn't count lol

For what it's worth I carry a little Luisa(in tribe) and seen it on various ages.. these styles for the most part are very classic which is what makes them versatile.

Definitely check them out in person if you can, good luck deciding!

You can choose from blue, cognac, black and tan for Horween if you want to custom order one.

I was at the flagship Vancouver store yesterday to have a look. They didn't have my cafe bag in stock. :( They had the horween grace bag though in cognac... i really really like it. I also totally forgot that since i still have my student card i can get 20% off... I wonder if that goes for customizations though? If it does i'll be getting the grace in black leather with black stitching. If not im back to deciding between grace and cafe.... i will check out another location next week maybe... i didn't see the blue grace or the grey tribe leather.

Sadly the 20% off is not applicable to custom orders :(
I wish it did :/
However be sure to ask your local stores when their next leather event will be. For example the Guelph Ontario store is having a 15% off sale for custom orders in May.
