How your bag addiction started?

I'm not really sure how exactly it started. I started out with Gap bags and such and then I moved up to Kenneth Cole Reaction, Guess etc.. for quite a while.

I have always had a knack for finding things on the internet or in magazines that are impossible to get where I live and I think that is how I really got obsessed with designer bags. I have wasted many many hours on Saks, Neiman's and eluxury's sites drooling over bags that I would most likely never find in Calgary. I fell in love with the Dior Rasta line when it first came out, but there was nowhere in Canada that sold Dior handbags. Then I spotted the Burberry bluebell line a couple of years ago and decieded I had to have one of those. I went down to Holt Renfrew and they actually had that line and I bought my first "expensive" bag. My mom was with me and almost had a heart attack when the SA gave me my total!

Shortly after that I went to Vegas and the handle broke on the brown purse I had taken with me. Right then and there I decieded that I was only going to by good quality bags from then on. The next day I walked into the LV at the Forum shops and bought my Speedy 25. After that there was no turning back. Then I found tPF and it has only gotten worse or maybe it's gotten better, I guess it depends on how you look at it. ;)

Lol.
My mom has always had designer bags but I was never interested..then she got me a Kate Spade backpack the summer before 9th grade because she was tired of carrying my things around in her purse.
Each holiday after that, my parents would get me a new bag..and that's how it all began lol.

Mine started as a baby. My mother says I knew real leather when I was 6 years old.
I am constanting looking for the new styles. I have just about every designer.
I just bought a large Chanel with matching wallet. I love it! And so far my favorite bag is the new messenger Dior Rebelle bag-AWESOME!!

the story of my addiction: in middle school all the preppy girls carried the papagallo bag (wood handle with button-on cloth covers that you could change to match your outfit). I went thru a brief preppy phase so I had one. In upper school the designer du jour was etienne aigner but by then I was doing my own thing---I think I carried around a sloppy canvas tote from PBS or something. I never really paid attention to bags again---I'd buy ones that caught my eye at the limited or 9 west---until a nordstroms opened up here in town. having moved back to my hometown (richmond va) from san diego ca, i was very excited to have access to nordie's again so to celebrate i bought a very small and to me expensive ($200) black leather coach. From there i developed a coach addiction. It is thanks to tPF that I have become hooked on the high-dollar bags!! I now own 2 fendis, a chloe, a marc jacobs, and 2 lvs in addition to my numerous coach and betsey johnson bags. and it ain't over by a long shot!!

me was when I saw David beckham with a keepall but I thought LV was only for celebritys and you couldnt go in the shop unless you were a celeb (Yes I was young) so I bought from ebay and then later started buying from teh store when I got more info on it.

Hmm, hard to say really. I've always carried a purse since probably 5th grade or so. But never designer. I was always jealous of my friend in high school because she carried a Liz bag! LOL Then another friend showed up with Dooney, then another friend with Dooney. Luckily I graduated before I really felt the need to get one too. Then into college, work, marriage, etc. I think it was after my divorce that I really got into handbags. I had just had the internet put in my house - - - heard about Louis Vuitton (even pronounced it LOUIS, not like Louie! DUH!). So I searched eBay day and night. Not finding anything in my price range. And for sure not knowing about fakes!!!! It wasn't until I found Yahoo auctions that I realized there were fake bags out there. I think I bought a Dior shoulder bag of some sort off there for like $35. Thought I was on top of the world. THEN I found out about the underworld of fakes. Yikes. So that began my obsession of REAL designer bags. I work Coach and Dooney - but never retail. Always from yard sales or eBay (after they were authenticated). Then came the higher end.......my Prada first, then my Kate, then my LV Epi Noe, several other Coaches, Dooney's and now my first Fendi that I got in last week! LOL

Until the beginning of this summer, I honestly did not care about what purse I had and I always bought cheap $20 to $40 ones, which broke on me after a month. But when two of my purse broke on me in a week, I got really mad and told my mom that I wanted an expensive purse. So she bought me a cute little Coach bag. Unfortunately, it wasn't that big, and I still needed a big purse, so she decided to buy me another one for my HS graduation, which was a Dior tote :smile1:

Those are the only two purses I have for now, but I plan on expanding my collection!

Last March on a trip to California we stopped at an outlet mall outside of Palm Springs I bought a Coach and a Furla and I have been hooked ever since. My husband thinks that I am nuts! I tell him that they are an investment and will last a lifetime...he wants to know just how many lifetimes I think that I am going to live! Right now it is 17!
