I own a retail business myself and I always call the previous employers as well. I find it gives much better insight to the type of worker than the references that are given.

Definitely! I even had an applicant once who seemed perfect, I was going to offer her the job, but when I phoned her previous employer I discovered she'd been fired for stealing. Pays to check!

I believe they require two years prior experience in high end retail, so your best bet might be to try and get a job at a department store with a LV boutique - that way you will be getting experience and you'll be working with the people who may decide to hire you in the future :)

LOL! Would love to work for them too, but I'd hate to give up being able to buy pieces when they first come out, especially if they are limited editions. My SA told me that they can't buy LE pieces when they first come out...

what if you would just go to a different store to buy them? :confused1: then they wouldn't know that you work for lv.
Like two identities :sneaky:

I honestly wouldn't want to work for LV...I'd probably end up getting sick of LV and would associate their bags to "work."

Also, I wouldn't want to work for LV as I may end up being a cranky snoot just like the SA's at our LV boutique :smash:

I'd like to work for LV, trouble is we have very few high-end retailers where I am... I'd get my family to buy the LE pieces for me if I wanted them ;) I think if you're good at what you do the potential to travel and move up is possible... working for LVMH in general would be extremely interesting :smile1:

Sometimes I think all the frustration of retail and the possibility of becoming cranky would be worth it for the discounts and knowing the low down on all the lines and upcoming releases!! The problem is there are not enough hours in the day for me to work there and my current job!

Anyone know what kind of discount they receive?

I don't know if it based on each store. I had a friend who worked at LV and she was still in college and I don't think she worked in retail before hand. She was really fun and bubbly and cute, so not sure if that's the reason she was hired. Another one of the girls who I became friends with worked there for about 2 years and she was young, about 22 or 23. A friend in college worked there and he was still in school while working there and I'm not sure about his previous experience, but I don't think he had luxury retail in his background. I honestly think it depends on the the store's manager or who is doing the hiring, and if they like you or not.
