Great article thanks for sharing!

If it were up to my fiancee i'd be in stilettos 24/7 he has a thing for them. so my once soft unmarked feet are now usually in pain, red, and with blisters. ugh why can't they make high heels comfy!?!

“Long nails and high heels only prove that the wearer does absolutely nothing.” :roflmfao: LOVE it! Very fun read. I've found in my "old age" (I am 37) that I cannot go much over 4", and that's only with a platform. So my true heel height is never much over 3.5". But since my life is most like the second woman in the examples, heels aren't usually terribly appropriate at school and on the playground anyway!

Excellent post. I am going to be wearing some Terry de Havilland snakeskin wedges to my brother's wedding and have been wearing them around the house to get used to them. When I first looked at them I was terrified but it really is a matter of just getting used to them. Now, they're fine.

Marilyn Monroe always used to shave a half inch of her high heels to give her that sexy wobble. Had she been alive today she would never had to ruin her shoes, the 6 inchers give you the wobble factor! Tho perhaps not a very sexy one, more of a "christ someone be there to catch me" one LOL Have a feeling she would have rocked it anyway (and had many men around willing to catch her!)

Thanks for the article! I enjoy pondering the Empowerment vs. Oppression of heels. I think it's a little of both, if that's possible. I don't enjoy the inconvenience of heels, but I sure love the way they make me look and feel! Someone posted this related article in the CL subforum and I thought it was also an interesting read.

I recently bought couple of pairs of 4" high heel pump during Saks and NM sales, they are so pretty, but the heel is so high that I don't know if I really can walk with that high heel.

How do you girls get used to those super high heel shoes?

I think a lot of it is just innate grace, ankle strength and a desire to wear something beautiful. :shrugs: I've never had any problem with 100mm or 110mm heels (excluding added platform height, of course), but I can only stand 120mm heels for 20-30min, and I know the only thing that could make it easier is a platform. I think the best thing you could do is work your way up, gradually increasing height. If you go straight for a height you can't walk in you may end up looking foolish or get hurt. Don't be afraid to carry flats with you when you go out to change into if you need to. Good luck!
