How to read a BV tag

I had posted it before I purchased. The original pics never showed the last line on the tag. Then u realized its not the same format as my other purse. I got a bit paranoid and started reading this thread.

What about the vintage bags with the multi colored tags with the gods on either side of a circle with three lines of numbers on the back? At the very bottom of these tags there appears to be chinese writing. How would you determine age and color on these older bags? Just purchased a vintage on ebay and was wondering about this. Also found it very strange that under the brass plate with Bottega Veneta stamped on it there was another exact tag underneath the lining. You could just barely see it thru the fabric.

Hello, has BV changed their authenticity coding? It appears that they are now using one long serial number versus the color code, production year, etc. that was used in the past. I just bought a new bag in Steel and noticed this on the tag sewn in the pocket.
Thanks for any insights and I apologize if I missed a discussion on this that was already posted (I didn't come across anything when I searched)!

I recently got a BV large Veneta bag and noticed that serial tag numbers are just one line as appose to several lines of date etc I saw before. Just a one long string of numbers, no space. I assume this had been discussed somewhere before, but couldn't find through a search. Could somebody please explain this for me? Thank you so much!

you're right. there was a discussion on this somewhere, but like you, I can't recall which thread it was in.

if I remember correctly, the tag identifies the craftsman who made the bag and when. I was also told that BV can also track the purchase (where, when, etc). don't know how true this is but I suppose the tag/id number can be incorporated in the barcode that they scan at purchase. a non easily decipherable tag can also make it difficult to fake (unfortunately, it might also make it difficult to authenticate outside of BV itself).

This subject also came up in the "Authenticate This Bottega Veneta" thread in February. Here is the discussion:

As I mentioned in my post there, what I am doing to prove authenticity is to save the invoice and all packaging (including the plastic bag) which should show the style number of the item purchased. To cross check and as additional proof, I also print the BV website page describing the item and which should also show the same style number.

Hi, I am new to the BV family. I just purchased my first BV bag from Rue la la, however, the corner of the tag locates inside of the packet was cut. Does this impact the quality of the bag? I need to know this informaiton in case the bag needs to bring to the store for repair. Thanks!:smile1:

Hello All
I have a vintage BV bag with the following info on the authenticity tag
10100101109BON
9L300038844D617
972675
Can you tell me what the coding means? eg age of the bag and the style?
Many thanks
