Why don't look at my seoul secret, they've been low key providing translators for looooooong time. they just don't promote it and their website sucks. but their insights are amazing. it's a company owned and ran by an american whose had PS and lived in korea for long time.

I am extremely bad with directions and prone to getting lost. Even in the country I live in, I still have a hard time going to new places that are far away. If I have a new place to go to, I even practice driving there beforehand. I use google maps, and I still miss turns and go in circles just to find the place I need to go to. I am certain this problem will be even worse in Korea since I don’t know the language and don’t have any experience with traveling in a different country. I fear getting lost, kidnapped, or just stranded in the middle of nowhere in Korea. I don’t have any friends or family that are available/willing to go with me to Korea.

I plan to go to Korea alone for plastic surgery, so I want to hire someone who can pick me up from the airport, drop me off at the hotel, take me to the plastic surgery clinics/translate for me, take me back to the hotel, and order food/drinks for me.

I don’t plan on having fun or going anywhere else in Korea. I only eat 1 meal a day, so it shouldn’t be too much of a bother for them to order food for me, or they could just teach me how to order food and I can do it myself for the rest of the trip. I just need someone to guide me to/from hotel, to/from the plastic surgery clinics for consultations/procedures, to/from airport, and order food/water for me. Where can I find this type of service, and how much would it cost?
Hey! I also have zero sense of direction (even in my own country), and an irrational fear of getting lost and kidnapped even in a safe country. But I survived 16 days in Korea mostly on my own lol.

My hospital arranged for pickup at the airport for me, so you could always try asking if yours offers the same service? You can make a list of the Korean addresses of the places you want to go (hospital, hotel, airport) and show the drivers when you get in the taxi. Taxis are also incredibly easy to flag down by the road, otherwise you can also use uber in the city but the addresses on the app will be in Korean. Whenever I had to go back to the hotel from the hospital, the receptionist would always offer to call for a taxi for me. On my last day, I asked the hotel staff to type in the airport address + terminal for me so I could get a taxi through the Uber app. So for someone who isn’t planning on going out much, it’s actually quite easy to get around.

I went to the supermarket the day before my surgery and stocked up on food and drinks as I didn’t plan on going out. It’s best if you could find a hotel/Airbnb with a microwave, fridge, and even better if it has a stovetop! The google translate app is so helpful. I used it to translate words on labels/packaging, menus, directions, as well as to ask for help/communicate. I think Koreans keep to themselves a lot, but they’re very kind and happy to help if approached.

Anyway good luck for your surgery x

Hi!

When are you planning on coming to Korea?

I can help you with bringing you to/from hotel, to/from the plastic surgery clinics for consultations/procedures, to/from airport, and ordering food/water for you. However I can't translate for you as I am not confident in translating medical terms.

You can message me on Kakaotalk! My ID is lialialia ^^
Hello! I’m interested as well. Can I add you on kakao?

Hi there. Is anyone traveling to Seoul for any plastic surgery procedures? In the up coming months. Probably in Aug or Sept.

Hope to find someone so I won’t be alone. Do inbox me! (:

How it went? did you go to Korea finally?

Posted this in another thread: I hired an interpreter based off recommendations here and he was a lifesaver. He did a lot of things you need help with, like walking with me from place to place so I didn't get lost. My interpreter liaised with clinics on my behalf and he also helped with contacting an airbnb host who wasn't responding, as well as with booking taxis. When I was in my zygoma surgery, he went out to buy the medications for me so I did't have to go to a pharmacy myself. They charge by the hour. I used Ryan Kim and HIGHLY recommend him. He also helped me negotiate double eyelid prices down by over a million krw at each consult. His kakao id is Ryankim13. Others have used Jude (kako id spqq) and Brian (gwbrian).

I went to Girin for DES and agree their english department is great. However, their translators are just communicating in a neutral manner between the consultant/doctor and you. By bringing your own translator, you have someone who is an advocate for you, not just a communicator.
What DES stands for? TIA
