I am extremely bad with directions and prone to getting lost. Even in the country I live in, I still have a hard time going to new places that are far away. If I have a new place to go to, I even practice driving there beforehand. I use google maps, and I still miss turns and go in circles just to find the place I need to go to. I am certain this problem will be even worse in Korea since I don’t know the language and don’t have any experience with traveling in a different country. I fear getting lost, kidnapped, or just stranded in the middle of nowhere in Korea. I don’t have any friends or family that are available/willing to go with me to Korea.

I plan to go to Korea alone for plastic surgery, so I want to hire someone who can pick me up from the airport, drop me off at the hotel, take me to the plastic surgery clinics/translate for me, take me back to the hotel, and order food/drinks for me.

I don’t plan on having fun or going anywhere else in Korea. I only eat 1 meal a day, so it shouldn’t be too much of a bother for them to order food for me, or they could just teach me how to order food and I can do it myself for the rest of the trip. I just need someone to guide me to/from hotel, to/from the plastic surgery clinics for consultations/procedures, to/from airport, and order food/water for me. Where can I find this type of service, and how much would it cost?

There are lots of English directions at the airport and English-speaking attendants who can help if you get lost. There are even step-by-step online guides and youtube videos on how to go from Incheon Airport to Seoul.

Actually you can just take one of the taxis from Incheon Airport staight to your hotel. Be sure to print your hotel address, in Korean, in advance. I think there are some international taxis that can offer an English driver. Idk if you need to book in advance so you can look into it. They do cost more than the regular taxis I believe. Booking a hotel near your clinic (or clinics) will help. A lot of people book one that's only a 2-10 min walk from their clinic.

There are medical tourism companies but I hear they're pretty expensive. As for meals, there are restaurants literally everywhere. Whatever hotel you're staying at, there's probably a restaurant and a few stores selling ready-meals within 1minute walk from it. A lot of restaurants in the area will be used to foreigners. Good luck!

I’m also in your situation. So I’m planning on my plastic surgery trips next year May alone.

You won't find that type of service anywhere. Korea is not a handheld country for plastic surgery. In fact, the complete opposite. Nowhere in the world I've feel they take plastic surgery more casually than in Korea. And I have gotten plastic surgery in two other countries.

For example, in Korea you can't even hire nurses to stay the night with you. Also, you get discharged after all procedures, it's very rare to spend a night. A lot of surgeries that in all other countries would be performed under general here are performed with local anaesthesia and sedation. Also, surgeries aren't performed in hospitals that are prepared for a medical emergency, but in their own clinics. You better pray that nothing goes wrong, because if it does, you are ****ed.

This is not to bash Korea. I'm very happy with the plastic surgeries I've gotten there. But it's not a country for spring chickens for sure.

If you feel this way about being able to do basic things and are this afraid, Korea ain't for you. Sorry but it's the truth. You probably can get almost all surgeries you want to get done in your country. Maybe try traveling outside your country for fun before you do it for medical tourism.

BTW, Korea is a very safe country. You certainly won't get kidnapped, LOL.

Around when are you planning to go?

Apparently you can hire translators to come with you for consultations! I've seen some names mentioned in other threads, plus the hospitals might have in-house translators for when you're in there for consultations and procedures. Maybe they'll help you with the other smaller things if you just ask?

You pretty much summed up the services that "agencies" offer. They are businesses called agencies in Seoul, they help with translation, booking, transportation etc. Some people who go to Seoul alone are able to manage by taking taxis (I think kakao taxi???) and using google translate. If you're anxious, I recommend you read other people's reviews on their PS experience in Korea. From the airport, depending on where you're going, you can ask the information services on taking the airport bus to Seoul.

The reason I want surgeries done in Korea is because they specialize in Asian faces. I'm in the US, and American doctors aren't experienced with Asian faces. I tried researching doctors in the US, but there are mixed reviews. Even the Asian American doctors that do surgeries on Asians still aren't as good as the ones in Korea. Some Asian people on here that got surgeries in the US say they regret it and should've gone to Korea.

Hi Winter, I feel you as I'm also terrible at navigating and have a hard time using Google Maps. Re: transportation to and from the airport and hotel, it's easy to get a taxi, readily available at the airport. If you prefer a driver that speaks really good English, feel free to DM me. I booked a taxi for my return from the hotel back to Incheon and the hotel booked me a taxi. The driver was really nice and fluent in English. He gave me his business card when I mentioned I'm going back to Seoul in October for PS. For people who can help you with consultation, there are translators who help foreigners with translation if we go to clinics that do not have English consultants. Their service costs around 40,000-60,000 won per hour.

Hi, when do you plan to come to Korea, I can help you if our schedule match.
I am professional medical translator so you can pay me based on working hours, please pm me if you are interested!

hi! Do you happen to have any recomendations for agencies? Thanks!

Most clinics here that are plastic surgery have a person who works with in English Department that will work as a translator. Or you can look up specific clinics that offer that service however sometimes it can cost extra. The clinic I went to for mine did not cost extra which was Girin Plastic Surgery in gangam, btw.

Posted this in another thread: I hired an interpreter based off recommendations here and he was a lifesaver. He did a lot of things you need help with, like walking with me from place to place so I didn't get lost. My interpreter liaised with clinics on my behalf and he also helped with contacting an airbnb host who wasn't responding, as well as with booking taxis. When I was in my zygoma surgery, he went out to buy the medications for me so I did't have to go to a pharmacy myself. They charge by the hour. I used Ryan Kim and HIGHLY recommend him. He also helped me negotiate double eyelid prices down by over a million krw at each consult. His kakao id is Ryankim13. Others have used Jude (kako id spqq) and Brian (gwbrian).

I went to Girin for DES and agree their english department is great. However, their translators are just communicating in a neutral manner between the consultant/doctor and you. By bringing your own translator, you have someone who is an advocate for you, not just a communicator.

hii, I heard and read some real thread , some big clinics have their translators in house. I am going to DA clinic next week by myself alone , they said they has their own translators and airport pickup services ,and all free of charge. I booked the shared apartment at a reasonable price at the airbnb for 2 weeks stay . I will figure out to buy the food nearby the place I stay or order online haha. It will be such an adventure for me but I am very excited to get lost in the middle of nowhere !! :panic:
