Do you know if she specifically asked the surgeon for prednisone or it was a standard part of the rx cocktail they write for you after surgery? Which clinic was this? This is the first I've heard of Korean clinics prescribing it post-surgery for swelling, I hope others do the same!

Side note: 3 days post-fat graft I'd assume some of that volume to be from swelling even with the prednisolone. If she looks perfect at day 3, I'd be concerned the doc didn't add enough volume. I'm curious how she'll look a few months out, I hope she can do a review.
Hi @Gats, he prescribed as routine. He is a breast surgeon that specialises in liposuction and fat transfer. Here is the link to his clinic. https://honnete.kr/ He speaks fluent English and apparently the kakao translators do not so they transfer your kakao to him to answer if you type in English. He is also known to charge foreigners local prices! Her forehead looked overfilled on day 3 but the rest looked fine. He also has a method of breast lift without the usual surgery and instead liposuctions the breasts first to cause fibrosis which apparently lifts the breasts with less fat and then at 2 months later does breast fat transfer strategically so it fills in the upper quadrants. The 40+ year old mother looked amazing with a face of a 16 year old and a well endowed high chest. It was great to actually meet her in person so I could study her face and photos. She went from looking 40+ and gaunt to 16 and fresh!

It is quite a challenge navigating the website as it is all in Korean!

Today's post is on necks. My advice is to always get a neck lift with your facelift or you may end up like me. Two years after my facelift, my neck now looks old with horizontal lines at rest and vertical platysmal bands when I clench my teeth while my face looks young. Granted on this whole plant food diet my weight has plummeted to 96 lbs so I have lost all the remaining fat in my neck.

The solutions for an aging neck are:

1. 6 weekly botox injections into the bands at £350 a go (too expensive),

2. a neck lift (but that means cutting through the same facelift scar and basically loosening the skin in the lower face to reach the neck so the price is the same as a face and necklift under local or £7k in Manchester and sadly I have seen return of platysmal bands in ladies who had deep plane neck lifts!)

3. neck fat graft (I have no fat left to harvest) or

4. wear polo necks, gain weight (need to eat more fat), apply aloe vera and other skin creams and mask the lines with thick Shiseido foundation.

I will start with option 4. Sigh. I really do not want any more plastic surgery. It is no longer a joy but a costly chore.20240204_014917.jpg

After 2 days of daily application of aloe vera lotion to the neck, here is the b&a with (top photos) and without Shiseido foundation (bottom photos) to the neck in daylight and room light. Yay I can hold off on a neck lift for now. I also need to gain fat weight as my weight is still dropping and is 95 lbs today on a vegan diet to reduce my over 320 mg/dl or uk 8.5 mmol/l cholesterol.Collage_2024-02-04_08_01_40.jpg

Hi Miss Orange...Im so pleased to have come across this forum, your wealth of knowledge and personal experience provide those of us considering surgery with some good, well founded advice.
Like you I have had some previous procedures with mixed outcomes... I completely agree with your advice on medication to prevent swelling... As you point out it can be the swelling itself that affects the longejevity of the results and scarring....I have dreadful scarring.
I came across this thread looking for any information or reviews on Mehmet Comert... I'm considering having a face and neck lift...I have had some consultations here in the UK and as you have highlighted they are really pushing deep plane lifts with a much higher price tag.

Your insight into these lifts has really made me think twice 🤔 as you've mentioned the results of these have not been fully road tested, they present more risk and the ramifications for any revision is frightening.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and information!

Do you know of anyone who's had procedures with the Mehmet Comert?

Hi @Lynn22,

Welcome to tpf! I am delighted you share my opinion on the effects of swelling and the push towards the more expensive deep plane FL/NL. My York surgeon is now charging £15,995 for DP FL/NLs, London surgeons are now charging £26k-£30k for DP FL/NLs, and Bray in Kent is the most expensive at allegedly £70k. These prices are pushing British ladies to travel abroad to Turkey.

I am aware of one Londoner who is now 3-4 months post DP FL/NL with Comert and so far so good but he does not prescribe steroids. We have to wait for her outcome at the 6-12 month mark when she has fully deswelled. If you choose Comert, you would have to source your own postop prednisolone or prednisone.

There is some debate about the facial retaining ligaments. One London plastic surgeon says that once they are cut, it is irreversible. Comert has told one patient he can restitch her cut ligaments. I think because they are crucial in maintaining support for the face, I would urge ladies try smas first to preserve these ligaments.

I have been researching, and there is a plastic surgeon Mr Mabroor Bhatty who operates in Manchester or Birmingham and does smas FL/NLs under local for £7000. For £7250 he has performed smas FL/NL with neck lipo and I have seen the incredible 3 week results of this on a 48 year old lady who now looks 14! It is early days for the final result but her neck is to die for. He offers free video whatsapp consults so I have booked one for tomorrow evening to get a professional opinion on my neck. I wish I could have this lady’s teen neck! lol.

This means the only 2 surgeons left in the UK who do traditional smas facelifts are Andrea Marando in Manchester who does lateral smasectomy and prescribes postop prednisolone upon request and Mabroor Bhatty who does smas which I assume would be plication.

Today’s post is a warning. Even though this Korean did a fab job rejuvenating my old eyes with upper lid fat graft, ptosis correction and revision DES (upper bleph) and that of my close friend last month, I am devastated to learn a close family member has ptosis in one eye after DES with this surgeon. She has been operated on him twice and has been offered a third attempt. I was unaware that she had flown to Korea to see him to request large eyelid creases, and I suspect this is where the problem began. My Korean eyelid surgeon is a specialist for small natural Korean eyelid creases. He is not a specialist in Western dolly eyes. I wish I had known she was flying to request large creases so I could have warned her that she should look for a British surgeon. Also from my 4 previous upper blephs with Uk surgeons, I can tell you that large creases do not last and eventually fall in 1-2 years in my case so to keep flying back requesting larger and larger creases from a surgeon who does small natural creases makes no sense and sadly has left her with a noticeable ptosis in one eye. I have suggested she tape her good eye to try to strengthen the eye with lid ptosis.

I then met a Vietnamese lady from the UK when I was in Seoul who had had open silicone rhino with my eyelid surgeon with an unsatisfactory result. I saw her photos and was deeply saddened for her. She had to wait up to a year to be revised by a rhino surgeon at Nose Lab. Again, my Korean surgeon is an eyelid specialist in small natural eyelid creases. He is not a specialist in large creases or open rhinoplasty. When he was at MVP he did closed rhino. Please if you are considering open rhino, seek a rhino specialist and do NOT get silicone. Silicone implants may become visible or buckle or get infected. There are too many horror stories re nose silicone implants which is probably why they are NOT used in the UK or US. Choose ear, septal or rib cartilage. The Nose Lab offered her donor rib but also inserted silicone again in her bridge! She ended up with a deformed nose yet again. Poor soul had to wait yet another year to have Nose Lab revise for free, remove the buckled C shaped silicone and just put fresh donor rib in her nose. Now she looks great but she suffered for 2 years with 2 different surgeons and flew to Korea three times from the UK!

The moral of the story is do not ask one surgeon to do everything or anything but his specialty. Each plastic surgeon has a specialty. Yes a plastic surgeon is a generalist but they often have more experience in one area. For instance I wouldn’t ask my rhino surgeon to do my facelift or my facelift surgeon to do my rhino.

My woes of not getting a neck lift with my face lift...here are recent photos of my young face with old neck. I forgot to put Shiseido (best foundation for Asian pigment skin) on my neck. I only ever put foundation on my face when applying makeup. Now I have to remember to apply over my neck and not wear any expensive clothes where I could stain the collar. Or I could buy a scarf to always cover my neck like an airline stewardess? It's the only part of my entire body that gives away my age. lol. Even my hands look young naturally. For those with aging hands look into fat graft to the hands. It is also offered at Coppergate Clinic where I had my face done.

In the meantime I looked up London surgeon William Townley and he does a short scar neck lift. I was like yay until I read his price...£10k under GA. That's more than double what I paid just for my face. Back to square one.

On the bright side this was taken on my 2 year anniversary of my VR smas facelift with Nick Rhodes of Coppergate clinic in York and my 8 year anniversary of my rib rhino with Lucian Ion and my eyelid fat graft, ptosis correction and revision des with Dr Seo at Machimpyo. He turned my aged hollow large wrinkled creases to Han Ye Seul's eyes! I just need to learn how to do her winged eyeliner. Eight years ago I handed him her A4 printed photo and said give me her eyes. As long as you hand him a Korean actor or actress' eyes he can emulate. Just don't ask him to give you big Western creases. For this go to a Caucasian western surgeon.
